After touring North America as a backup guitarist for Green Day in 2005, guitarist Terry Linehan (Waterdog, Frustrators)decided it was time to apply what he had learned and start a band in his native Rhode Island. After months of computer demos Terry realized he needed a top notch singer to accomplish his vision and turned to Paul Everett. He had long admired Paul's voice in bands such as Coat of Arms and The Blizzard of 78. After months more of demoing the two realized they had something there and recruited a band of Providence's finest. Guitarist Eric Fontana had made his name in local band Mother Jefferson as well as being a first call studio musician(No Doubt, Dropkick Murphys, Avoid One Thing, The (Amazing) Royal Crowns). Jack McKenna also of Mother Jefferson fame had made the jump from drums to bass and was a perfect fit as was Paul Myers who had been bashing the drums in perfect time for the Blizzard of 78.
Together as Hope Anchor they bring songs of post-industrial small city America right to your ears. Their vision is to bring the characters that are Providence to life in a way that honors Providence's history and tradition as one of the birthplaces of alternative music. With an 80's sensibility and well written songs steeped in over a decade of Providence tradition Hope Anchor is slated to set sail on July 22nd 2006!
