Sir Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

My grandfather, father, brother and sister-in-law wrongfully received traitors' deaths for their unswerving devotion to the Tudor lineage of monarchs.

I carry on this family tradition by faithfully serving my Queen, Elizabeth I, and pray it be God's will that I avoid their bloody fates.

My Interests

Riding horses with the Queen, organizing court entertainments, improving my estate at Kenilworth Castle, advancing the religious reformation of England, practicing the art of courtly love.

I'd like to meet:

Joseph Fiennes

Music:

John Dowland

Movies:

With the guidance of the the esteemed astrologer and seer, Dr. John Dee, I have seen the moving pictures of future centuries. Joseph Fiennes' portrayal of myself in Elizabeth (1998, opposite Cate Blanchett) has just about got it right...

Television:

Other portrayals of Robert Dudly, Earl of Leicester:

Jeremy Irons, Elizabeth I (HBO, 2005)

Tom Hardy, The Virgin Queen (Masterpiece Theatre, 2005)

Books:

The Tree of Commonwealth, by my grandfather Edmund Dudley, and The Uncrowned Kings of England: The Black History of the Dudleys and the Tudor Throne, by Derek Wilson (an enormously flattering and ultimately truthful telling of my family history)

Heroes:

John Knox, Sir Francis Drake, Sir Philip Sidney

God grant me some dignity, in the face of this woman.

I was reminded today of something Elizabeth once said to me. Even now, it brings a grimace to my face. "You are like my little dog," she said, "when people see you, they know I am nearby."I wish no di...

Another of Elizabeth's whims....

I really wish Elizabeth would get off my back about marrying her cousin Mary. First of all, she is a Catholic. Second of all, she lives in that backwards country of Scotland. Third of all, her beauty ...
