"Clare Gabriel writes songs that are beautiful and unpretentious and she sings them that way too."
- Ron Sexsmith
Bluebirds and cowboys. Sunrises and rainy days. Rivers and dreamers. Borrowed guitars and old-fashioned songs.
Introducing Clare Gabriel's debut album 'Peace of Mind' - a warm blend of sunshine pop, alt country and folk acoustica. Original songs enveloped in a vintage sound.
All songs written by Clare Gabriel. Produced, engineered and mixed by Matt Fell at Love Hz Studios in Sydney. Title song co-produced/ engineered by Michael Carpenter, also at Love Hz.
Clare's musical influences are of the classic pop variety - from Cole Porter and Irving Berlin to The Beatles and The Beach Boys. From Carole King and Karen Carpenter to modern greats like Neil Finn, Aimee Mann and Ron Sexsmith.
"The popular song is a wonderful art-form, and I have a deep respect for the tradition that shaped it - for all the great songwriters past and present who instinctively knew or know how to capture beauty, love, insight, wisdom - in just three and a half minutes. What could be more sublime than that?"
Here is a refreshing and truly independent album - free of cynicism, free of angst - from somebody game enough to claim The Carpenters as an influence!
