About Me

You can purchase our Records from the following sites: spaghettiwesternmusic.com , cdbaby.com , and both of our records, 'Do Right By People' and 'Quiet Mob ep' are available on itunes for downloading. The Spaghetti Western String Co., a Minneapolis based quartet, writes and performs cinematic style music with acoustic instrumentation. Their music combines Classical, Bluegrass, Jazz and European folksong, ultimately producing a unique sound that is gentle yet chaotic at the same time. The interplay between Michael Rossetto (banjo, guitar), Nicholas Lemme (mandolin, voice) and Ethan Sutton (cello) is as captivating in concert as it is on record - or so we think. :)
Since the group's formation in 2004, they have performed on a number of stages, most notably, St. Pauls historic Fitzgerald Theatre, Minnesota Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis premier club First Ave., and Duluth's Greenman Festival and several shows at the Cedar Cultural Center. The group has shared the stage with the The Delgados, the unclassifiable Tin Hat Trio, Fiamma Fumana, Crooked Fingers, the Black Eyed Snakes, and has appeared on Garrison Keillors Rhubarb show. Their first release, 2004's 'Do Right By People' was a mix of analog electronic and acoustic instrumentation that was one of the top ten records of Minnesota that year. In December/January of 2004 the release broke into the CMJ top 50.
The Spaghetti Western String Co. has been active in writing film scores for silent films. Their first film score was written for the 1934 bio-epic, GRASS, and performed this score at the Suburban World Theater, during the 2005 Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival, and at the Bell Museum Auditorium in Minneapolis in conjunction with the Minnesota Film Arts. Most recently the group composed an original score to the classic French children's film, THE RED BALLOON . This score has been performed at several film and music festivals in Minnesota.
Quiet Mob EP (Oct. 2005 self-release), the groups latest release, builds upon the beautifully haunting compositions of Do Right By People by exploring different sounds via exclusively acoustic instrumentation. The EP also features the Italian folksong, Luna Marinara. While listening to the piece, the voice may take you to a far land; perhaps on a midnight stroll through the moonlit streets of Naples.
In the fall of 2005 the group were recipients of a Minnesota Music Award in the category of 'Eclectic Artist.' In the Summer of 2006, the group performed at Minnesota's Orchestra Hall and debuted a collaboration with 'Live Action Set,' a twin cities dance/theater troupe. Their collaboration, 'The Percussionist' was supported by the Walker Art Center, and part of the Momentum Dance Series. The piece was performed for three nights at the Southern Theater in July of '06. In August of 2006, Denise Guelker (violin) left the group to pursue other interests. In September the group won it's second Minnesota Music Award again for 'Eclectic Artist of the Year.' Currently, Michael, Nicholas and Ethan are working up material for a full length and more and will begin studio work in February of '07. Look for this record in the spring/summer of this year.
