The Cedar Cultural Center

About Me

The Cedar is turning 20!
To help celebrate its 20th season anniversary, The Cedar Cultural Center is driving an initiative to restore the building’s historic marquee. The marquee, which is currently dysfunctional, serves as signage for the organization and as a landmark for the entire Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. After funds are secured, the sign will undergo a complete renovation, which will include neon lighting and repairs to the façade and structure. Donate to the campaign and learn more at www.thecedar.org/donate.
The Cedar Cultural Center is a non-profit performing arts venue in Minnesota that presents local and international music. Support live music through The Cedar by buying tickets or making a donation at www.thecedar.org.
The Cedar’s 20th season brings with it exciting initiatives including free events that celebrate the 20th anniversary, implementation of new programs such as Cedar Family and the 416 Club, and execution of capital improvements such as an all-new sound system and renovations to the outdoor patio.
What people say about The Cedar:
“After 12 years covering music in the Twin Cities, I have no issue calling The Cedar the most important music venue in the Twin Cities. It brings cultures together and changes the way people see the world.” –Bill Snyder, local music and arts columnist
The following posting from “aol.com cityguide” reflects the important contribution of The Cedar to the Twin Cities:
OK, so you heard from a friend of a friend that a very cool, non-top 40, super eclectic band is playing a concert this coming weekend. You know, the one you heard interviewed by Teri Gros on Fresh Air. This friend, however, didn't give you the name of the venue where the band was playing. Fresh out of luck? Probably not, because it’s most likely the band is playing at the Cedar Cultural Center. This folksy music hall with an enormous dance floor has developed a reputation for lively, smart, surprising programming designed to bring first-rate musicianship to the Twin Cities.
