Howell Osborne

wood, wire & noise

About Me

Howdy Friends! I'm Howell Osborne. I am a jamming junky! I play guitar, mandolin, autoharp, harmonica, bass, etc. Yep, another bluegrass picker and singer. Been making my "noise" for a many a moons now. I've been really fortunate to perform and befriend some great peeps. Started playing guitar around six years old. “Wildwood Flower” was the first song that I learned so I added the way I learned it from my uncle Oscar. As a teen I played rock, then moved on to country for a while but I repented of all that (kidding folks) and returned to my bluegrass roots. The rest is what you hear here. The reason I am here is to network so friendship is very welcome!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: d18.us/
Band Members: I play all the instruments on these recordings except for "Jesus Is the Rock." On that one, Tim Chafin plays the keyboard. I recorded these tracks with a Fostex VF80 and Sure 57 mics. Instruments used are a Martin D18GE guitar, a D3 Santa Cruz guitar, a Millard F5 mandolin, a Tacoma Bass and a Lee Oscar Harmonica.
Influences: My first and most important influence would be my wife; Gail. Then the list could go on forever so I stop at my very favorites. To name just a few, (and in no particular order) would be Kenny Smith, Norman & Nancy Blake, Tony Rice, Doc Watson, Clarence White, Orrin Star, David Grier, Bryan Sutton, Wayne Henderson, Bill Monroe, Adam Steffey, Wayne Benson and many years ago my first picking buddy was my Uncle Oscar Kessee.
