About Me

The Mcfarland Road Band consist of four members at present. Three of which are original members. The band is a North Carolina based bluegrass band and plays for all types of events in and around the State. The Members are Danny Pate, Lead Vocals and Guitar, Crowell Holcomb Banjo, Mike Outlaw Lead Vocals, tenor backup vocals and Mandolin, Tommy Sessoms on backup vocals and dog house bass. The band has a traditional sound and loves to play anytime anywhere. They say they will play for anything from a rat killin to a pig pickin. These are truly good ole North Carolina boys, they love fried chicken, and good pickin. There is usually a great crowd with lots of pickin. If you can play an instrument then bring it and join in, or if you like to just listen well crab a seat, or bring a lounge chair and enjoy yourself. Band Members:Uncle Danny Pate has been listening and playing Bluegrass music for most of his life. Growing up his parents listened to bluegrass music on the radio and played it on their record player, he recalls coming home from shcool each day and hearing the music as he entered his house. His early influences were Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin and other greats. Other influences in his life are pickers who were family like his uncle Jim Pate, and friends like Gene Sizemore, and Less Sandy. You can find Danny playing Bluegrass at least 2 times a week, practicing one night with the band, picking at the "Pickin Shed" on Thursday nights, and at Ford's Bluegrass Mill on Friday's unless the band is booked, then he will play on Saturday too. There is noone who loves this music more that I know. He is truly a Bluegrass Lover.
