Stian Tønnesen started his career playing electric guitar in hard rock bands,but always had an interest for Celtic music after hearing Gary Moore's reel on the Roisin Dubh album from Thin Lizzy.
Stian "converted" to the mandolin in 1994,after seeing The Dubliners playing live in his home town Stavanger.In april the same year the band "The Tramps" was formed,and the band celebrates it's 15'th year anniversary this year!
Over the years Stian has added lead vocals, Dobro,tenor banjo,and some feeble attempts on playing fiddle to his repertoire :-)
His bands now include The Tramps,Blue Bell(bluegrass),and The Flying Shoes(70's rebel country tribute band).
Stian is also touring with other bands as a freelance musician,like Rita Eriksen.
He has also done studio work for several Norwegian bands like "The Stonefish Brigade,Synnøve Aanensen,Eriksen and others.
Stian now works on songwriting in both the celtic,and the bluegrass/country style for future albums...
