'empowering others to empower themselves'

About Me

Imported from the Islands of Australia, New Zealand and Samoa, this exotic package of vibrance is noted as this generations next Odetta. The powerful voice of elena (e-lane-nah) incorporates a genre combining folk, blues and soul with a twist of world music. The singer songwriter reaches back into her ethnic origins to draw strength from her ancestors by integrating her story, along with Polynesian and Afro-American influences to produce a startlingly fresh and vibrant musical style. Touring the remote corners of Australia took elena into the detention centres and missions that are home to too many indigenous Australians. Fired by the death in custody of a young Aboriginal man, elena is determined to use her vocal talent, compassionate personality and unique point of delivery to empower people of all races and creeds. She is passionate about issues of the environment, indigenous people and women, which her song writing clearly reflects. Individual and collective choices motivated by positive change is a major theme running through elenas message to all audiences.elena has built up a devoted following with her lively performances. She allows the various energies of audiences to direct her choice of songs as she lifts them to new heights.elena sends a powerful message of acceptance, tolerance, courage and compassion that communicates readily to audiences of all sizes.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4Get Your Own! | View Slideshow
