About Me

Black Mesa Native American Tash hails from the Navajo Nation. The Bitter Water clan woman began her musical sojourn at the age of sixteen. Growing up on the Navajo Nation has left a life long impact on her perception rooted in Native logic, as she weaves in and out of Indigenous tradition and Western cultures. Her debut CD ‘So It Is’ are stories that connect with many indigenous peoples as they are of her personal struggles and triumphs.Tash entertains a variety of audiences for the Native messages that comes through in her poetry relating to Native themes revolving around respect and healing within ourselves, other people, and our surroundings. She gives a lot of credit in her songwriting along with her other many other creative endeavors to her grandparents up on Big Mountain/Black Mountain for shaping her values as a human being. Her grandparents, her mother and the majority of her family took the time to teach her Native roots and how to care for herself no matter what world she is sharing. As a matter of destiny Tash picked up the guitar and began learning to play at the age of 16. She has used the guitar to uplift her spirit in times of happiness, sadness, and loneliness. But most of all her music has inspired her to put smiles on people's faces, as well as tears. She never realized the impact art has on other people until she actually learned to play music and be a part of various theatric and entertainment movements. Tash particularly enjoys playing to Native audiences from different tribes because there is a juxtaposition in many of her themes that Indigenous can to relate to.Tash has had a socially conscious career supporting fundraisers including International Peace Day, Mother Earth Gatherings, women's shelters and more. She continually offers her music for causes that are important to her. She has been outspoken for Native American, women's and deaf person’s rights and lives by example.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
