About Me

Luc's adventure with music started at the age of five, when his parents spotted him tapping his fingers on the table. Few weeks later the table was replaced with a piano. After a few private lessons Luc was signed up to a music school and, following the suggestion of the school director, officially started his music education in cello class. At the age of seventeen, encouraged by renown composer and conductor Jacek Sykulski, Luc joined the AMU Academic Choir, becoming a soloist from the very first days. The next 8 years he spent singing with the Choir variety of gospel, classic, contemporary and pop music from Mozart and Bach, thru George Gershwin to Queen, The Beatles and Eric Clapton, touring around Europe, USA, Canada, China and Taiwan. Among other significant performances with the Choir he sang as a soloist opening for the world famous Take 6. Guided by Jacek Sykulski during the choir years, Luc discovered and became fascinated with the amazing instrument of human voice and the world of vocal acapella music. Having developed his ability to harmonize he would start composing various pieces for mixed choir and smaller vocal ensemble. He also started a vocal ensemble of his own. In 2001 he went to live in The Hague, Holland, where after many years of platonic love for jazz, he started becoming familiar with the fabulous world of live jazz, which absorbed him utterly. After one year of giving piano lessons and attending various jam sessions and gigs in The Hague and Amsterdam he went back to Poland, where he spontaneously took part in a jazz vocal competition. He won the first prize and went to participate in International Jazz Workshops in Chodziez, getting vocal training from charismatic Naomi Isaacs, where he was selected to perform in final gala-concert among invited world-class guest musicians. It was there that he sang with award winning recording artist Charito, described as one of the most individual and creative jazz vocalists in today's Japan jazz circuit. In late 2005, shortly before leaving the country, Luc performed at International Jazz Vocalists Competition in Zamosc.Early 2006, after moving to London he did his first professional jazz recordings with top Polish musicians as Henryk Miskiewicz, Marek Napiorkowski, Zbigniew and Piotr Wrombel and Krzysztof Przybylowicz. He also performed with various great instrumentalists and vocalists, such as the ever-great Hanna Banaszak, both in the UK and Poland. Based since recently in London, Luc is doing occasional gigs around town.Although sometimes compared to Chet Baker - thanks to soothing and "healing" colouring of his voice; or Harry Connick Jr - for his freedom, yet rhythmic consequence in phrasing - Luc (now 27) definitely has his own, characteristic style, often described as surprisingly, for his age, mature in interpreting of jazz standards, with restraint as one of his main qualities.
