About Me

Michael Peter is a natural singer songwriter. His soulful, acoustic songs are written with sincerity, each revealing personal and deeply thoughtful lyrics. With every song, his heart is worn on his sleeve as he speaks of love we all hope to find, hope and the simple call to remember how lucky we all are and how great life really is.
He has hundreds of compositions to his name and has worked closely recording songs with members from bands INXS and Something For Kate.
Michael’s played countless live shows across Australia, including support slots for artists such as Darryl Braithwaite and Billy Thorpe. His raw and passionate display of originality and intensity brings open-hearted stories wrapped in carefully crafted melodies and rhythmic phrasing mixed with folk style honesty.
He has released a debut solo EP “The 25 paper planes EP” recorded in 2007 at Love HZ Studio in Sydney and his new single “Twenty Five” has received airplay on Triple J.
Michael and his wife Keren created their own label Teapot Records in 2007 to independently release "The 25 paper planes EP" and have released Michael's second EP "Patched Up Heart" on April 16, 2008.
Michael will be touring the western coast this summer and will be back in the studio by the end of the year to release his first full-length album.

Influences: A bigger influence on my music then any well known artists have been musos that i have grown up learning from and jamming with, love and respect to these amazing people;

Mum (although more of a hair dresser then a muso mum has always supported me and put up with the early days of bad singing and distortred guitars),

Dad (gave me a mic and a stage and said go for it),

Uncle Dave & friends (who showed me being a muso was the coolest thing in the world),

Matt Anderson (strong connections forever),

Danyoull (my songwriting began with us and progressed into Korus the best band eva!) ,

Ben Hegyi, Michael Obrien and Dave MCurtain (the rest of the Korus boys),

Monique Hartman, Mark Stockwell, Robbie Turner, (post-high school friendships, jams and songwriting, determined to take on the world),

Garry Beers (Swept me up into the Override roller coaster ride with such hospitality and kindness. The experience i gained from working and playing with you will stay with me forever),

Sebastian Chase (the other half of Override Records)

Sarah Humphreys (my little soul music sister what an inspiration! What a voice!),

Paul Eagle (A great songwriter and friend. As we spoke from the heart i realized i wasn't alone and that meant the world to me),

Carlton Sparks, Luke Bonic, Gus Bonic, (such amazing yet humble musos that taught me sooo much and welcomed me like family),

Jeff Doukakis, Matt Goodwin, Matt Luciano and Mark Stockwell (Owenell... we had the best of times and a few trying times but i have no regrets and you are my friends forever),

Jeff Doukakis and Feeli (so many gigs, so many laughs),

Meryl Leppard (my mentor and friend who held a mirror up to my face and helped me see the truth about myself).

My biggest influence is my colorful, beautiful wife Keren who encourages me beyond belief to create my dreams - without you... i dont even want to think about it xxoo.
Sounds Like: Depends on the song - mostly folk/acoustic/roots/rock/pop - but then again, anything's possible
