Album Is On The Way

About Me

Well, I was going to type out a whole lot of info about me in the 3rd person, you know, make it sound as though someone other than me was writing this....a professional.....but I decided against that. So.....
Dear Friends
My name is Mark Moldre and for the past few years I have been the singer/songwriter/founder of a band called Hitchcock's Regret. We've released three albums and have been featured on Rage, FBi and JJJ. We've had airplay and releases in the UK, Europe and the US.
Lately though I have felt that my musical compass has shifted somewhat, and it's no longer pointing North by Northwest (a little Hitchcock humour). I can feel a southerly change coming on.
So, I have started tracking a solo album, an album full of songs ranging from lyrically personal and honest songs, filled with nostalgia - to hallucinatory rants about the troubled mind of Phil Spector. The album was crafted with my good friends, musician/producer Michael Carpenter at Love Hz Studios and drummer/producer for The Church, Tim Powles at Spacejunk.
It features a couple of special guests and some old friends too, namely Jamie Hutchings (Bluebottle Kiss), Tim Powles (The Church) and Sophie Hutchings (Bluebottle Kiss, Holly Throsby), as well as a core line up of Professor Adam Lang, bassist Reuben Wills and drummer Scott Hutchings. I've already taken the songs out for a spin supporting the likes of Tex Perkins, The Church, Steve Kilbey and Jamie Hutchings.
I'm calling this music sonic folk....or can I say cinematic folk? Funny thing is albums never turn out exactly the way you imagine them in your head. Here's hoping you enjoy the songs as much as I enjoyed making 'em.
Thanks for stopping by

From The Press:

"I wish I had Mark Moldre’s gift for melodies. He’s got this pop thing completely sussed, and in a more equal world that would put him at the top of a heap that starts with Lennon/McCartney (and Harrison, let’s not diminish the intelligence of his work either) and takes you through Brian Wilson to Elvis Costello and Difford/Tilbrook...." Drum Media

"Mark Moldre, who, aside from playing "guitarsaplenty" also has a go at everything from Theremin to Mellotron, autoharp and thumb-tack piano, making him either a show off or a genius, maybe both" Australian Guitar

"Mark Moldre has the perfect rich honey pop voice, writes hook laden intelligent, sophisticated, creamy pop songs that shine with quality and depth and is a top notch guitarist to boot" Bucketfull Of Brains
