Maxine is your annoying neighbour who has loud arguments at 3am and slams doors. Please stop pounding the walls, it only compounds the situation.
She began performing in 2005 and has developed into a solid performer with enviable songwriting and vocal skill.... bla bla bla, (just read someone else’s bio, they’re all the same).
Her sounds are .. what are we calling this...? hmm, um, new folk, post folk, troubadour, 'archetypal', minimalist... oh god.. help. ok. it's easy, it's somewhere between The Cowboy Junkies and Pj Harvey with a little Mazzy Star and possibly... can we even say it? ok there's some Flaming Lips in there too. it's like post folk, so less story, more visuals. It's like when you walk out of a dark room into the midday sun or vice versa.
Lately she plays with David Hylton on Guitar and Tim Warner on drums, along with Lucas Hendriks on bass. It is an unmissable live show for many reasons, not the least of which is because they're all possibly heirs to massive fortunes.
Her live shows are engaging, blending a light hearted stage presence with an intensely personal delivery of the songs themselves.
She's pretty much the next small thing. She lives in Sydney Australia.
