YOUNG WERTHER Treasure EP
by Simone
’Young Werther is a terrifically sweet local band led by Mick Young and named after the semi-autobiographical vessel of a young Johann Goethe. In honour of their sorrowful namesake, they play impassioned drifts of folk pop with heavy-hearted lyrics; beautiful in an aching sort of way. Delicate rivers of finger-picked guitar flow through the record, while Mick sings in gorgeous poetic shivers about epic love and distant shores.Through the vivid, painterly strokes of Cornish Green, the rain-spattered lament of All Their Secrets and the restrained grace of Come On Back Here, this record wraps you in its arms and slowly seeps into your skin.’

BIOGRAPHY (from the horses proverbial)
A warm welcome to my page friends. I play under the name Young Werther. My new mini album ’Treasure’ is available in stores and via Itunes now. My musical history goes a little something like this:
Aged 9, started piano lessons.
Aged 11, wrote a song with school mates called ’Can’t fit in’ which had a killer hook. I loved it. It sucked.
Aged 16, I had a band with some mates at school called ’Fishing for Fish’. We parted ways when our bass player became a world renowned expert in insect penises.
Aged 18, I left my small town home, quit my job at Dad’s Butcher shop and moved to the big smoke and started writing songs. I formed a band with some dudes I met (including one member from ’Fishing...’) called The Restless (www.myspace.com/restlessthe) We recorded two EPs and an album, toured Oz twice and got airplay on JJJ and in the UK and Canada. We received some acclaim then called it quits in May 2005 when my brain began to melt.
Spent 6 months in the musical wilderness, thought about going back to butchering (even though I’m a lacto/ovo vegetarian), becoming a druid priest, living in a cave, renting a movie.
Rented a movie about Bob Dylan and realised music was my bag...created/stole my soo-do-nim "Young Werther" from Goethe and recorded some songs for the mini album "Treasure".
’Treasure’ has been released unto the world. May it go swiftly and far like the archers arrow in some old book.
Now it’s all...write, record, play live, write, record, play live....coz that’s what I’m like.
and that’s it for now....good night sweethearts
