Having fallen on hard times due to an immense struggle with alcoholism, JL knew that his only means of getting out of the ghetto and keeping clean was through artistic endeavour, or possibly by using his def hoop skills to wreck enemy opposition. After trying his hand at the visual arts and realizing that he had the technical ability of a crippled eight year old, JL turned his angst driven statements into pop flavoured tunes. Then heroin dealer and big boss man, Greg, knew that his groove was the Alvin to JL's chipmunk and so a beautiful union began. So how did A to the Kevin Robinson get in on this? At the time Kevin was bizy pimpin' shemen to corporate cats but found his love of tapping sense into customer's heads, who proved short on pay, so enjoyable that he took to them drums like a chicken to water. And that's how The River was hatched.
