My Interests

Beer, Football, Girls, Kebabs, Music, Radio (FM/Internet), Raving

I'd like to meet:

Guglielmo Marconi an Italian electrical engineer known for the development of a practical wireless telegraphy system commonly known as the "radio".

Music:

Drum & Bass, Hardcore, Dubstep, Reggae, Dub

Movies:

Pump Up the Volume (1990) a dramedy written and directed by Allan Moyle and starring Christian Slater (Mark Hunter) a high school student that starts a pirate radio station which broadcasts from his bedroom in the basement of his parent's house. Mark is a loner, an outsider, whose only outlet for his teenage angst and aggression is his radio station. (His pirate station's theme song is "Everybody Knows" by Leonard Cohen). By day, Mark is seen as a loner, hardly talking to anyone around him, by night, he expresses his outsider views about what is wrong with American society. When he speaks his mind about what is going on at his school and in the community, more and more of his fellow students tune in to hear his show. Nobody knows the true identity of "Hard Harry" or "Happy Harry Hard On", as Mark refers to himself, until Nora Diniro (Mathis) tracks him down. Eventually, the radio show causes so much trouble in the community that the authorities are called in to investigate.

Television:

Emmerdale a British television soap opera set in the fictional Yorkshire village of the same name. Much of the action takes place within the village pub, The Woolpack. The show was created by Kevin Laffan in 1972. It is now the third-highest ranking soap opera on British television, behind the ITV's Coronation Street and the BBC's EastEnders.

Books:

All Crew Muss Big Up (1999) by Brian Belle-Fortune a ten year journey through Drum & Bass culture and features interviews with the music's top artists. However, it also delves deeper and looks at the pirate radio stations, labels, crews, promoters and ravers that form the backbone of the scene. As well as evoking the passion and energy of the music, the book is strong on the politics of Jungle and the way it has interacted with racial issues over the years.

Heroes:

Dream FM (Leeds) a hugely successful station that championed Dance music of all genres and paved the way for Galaxy. Kool FM (London) the longest running Jungle Drum & Bass radio station with over a decade at the top of its game helping to support and perpetuate the scene, and inform ravers, for 15 years now.
