Suburban Smith

electric progresive bluegrass rock and roll

About Me

Formed in 2003, Suburban Smith got to know each other at Toronto’s Silver Dollar room; the center of Toronto’s Jamband and bluegrass community. Gavin Enns (Bass and Vocals) and Mike Peterkin (Guitar and vocals) began working together, both writing original material, as well as deconstructing and improvising on bluegrass tunes. They played regularly at the Tranzac, and with the help of a generator, often played at an outdoor stage at the Trinity Bellwoods drum circle. They are continuing this tradition of guerilla performances by playing electric in Kensington Market, and on Queen St. in the afternoon. Drummer Greame Bulmer joined the group in 2005 and they immediately started playing what became a year long house gig at The Last Temptation in Toronto’s historic Kensington Market., developing a distinct sound, and a dedicated and fanatical audience.
