About Me

View Kara Stephens's EPK

Kara recalls being in front of an audience at a very young age. At the age of three, she put on her little bumble bee costume and her tap shoes and performed in her first dance recital. Her first "lead" singing role was in a Christmas play at her parents' church at the age of four. After that, she was addicted to that stage.
Growing up, Kara was a member of every performing group she could get into. These groups included: Grammy Vocal Jazz under the direction of the one and only Quincy Jones and Glen Carlos at USC; the California All-State Honor Choir; Mt. SAC "Singcopation" under the direction of the incomparable Bruce Rogers where the group was voted 4 years in a row by the prestigious jazz magazine, Downbeat, as "the best college vocal jazz group in the nation"; Mt. SAC Chamber Singers which toured throughout Europe and won multiple First Place awards at the prestigious Eisteddfod Festival, "The Olympics of Music", in Llangollen, Wales. Every year during the holiday season, you can find Kara dressed as a Definitely Dickens Holiday Caroler singing throughout California at various locations including Disneyland, celebrity homes and private parties, corporate events, on television shows and news programs, and countless other events.
Kara's love of music goes hand in hand with acting. She has appeared and her music has been featured in a variety of television shows such as: most recently NBC's Days of Our Lives, ABC's General Hospital, MTV's The Osbournes, and FOX's Ally McBeal. Commercial credits include Tombstone Pizza, and film credits include Love and Soul, Goodbye Lover, and Joe Dirt. She has had several songs used as part of the soundtrack to numerous movies as well.
Some of her fave theater productions she's been in include Rock on Broadway, Grease, Pirates of Penzance, Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Recital, South Pacific, Anything Goes, A Chorus Line, and My Fair Lady.
For the past 4 years, Kara has been the lead vocalist of the popular Top Forties band, Grand Illusion, and was recently hired as a lead vocalist in the up and coming band, Vanity Fair. Watch out...they're gonna be HUGE!! ;) She has also been fortunate enough to be able to sing in various clubs throughout Southern California with some of the most talented musicians around.
Kara is currently in production with her album and is so excited for it's release...so keep your ears open!!

Thank you to my family, and to Bill, my love, for your unconditional love and support, and for your continued encouragement over the years. Thanks to Andre for putting this together! And to my angels, my dad and my brother, Jim...I miss you terribly. Thank you for always looking out for me!
