'Smiled every second I could when I was a kid.
Encouraged to try as hard as I did
Made my way through grades with mostly "A's"
Was the best I could be without being phased.Forced to play piano, learned life was not just mine.
People kept telling me I'd be just fine.
Few years later, I picked up the sax.
Created melodies, put it on wax.Listened to the tapes, thought of what to do.
Make life my music, and combine the two.
Wrote and practiced, until my fingers bled.
"Go to college," my parents and teachers said.Hearts were broken and love was lost.
All for a good cause, but at what a cost
Finished four years of school, as painful as it was;
Made them all proud, just because.Went home for a while to recuperate
Met other amazing musicians; thought it was fate.
Made an album, and brought it here to sell.
Penny for my thoughts, anyone--I'll tell?Found another love in the process.
But didn't love music any less
Didn't matter, the girl found something other.
Once again, music became my only lover.Started over a few times, I confess.
Tried to recreate my own happiness
Though ticking now, is the clock.
I am still an island, I am still a rock. With folly friends and wishbone goals,
It's time to recreate my role.
My life, starring me; smiling as I did,
Every second I could, just like when I was a kid.
