About Me

Having spent the previous half-decade delivering over 800 shows across North America primarily as an acoustic and solo artist, Tim Harwill is now working with his new band, the electrified True Country String Trio. Scheduled to return to the recording studio to begin production on his 4th album of signature material in early 2009, the indie troubadour continues to define a musical vision based on his personal artistic ethic wrapped in the soul of true country music.Born into a large working poor family from the ridge country of the Manitoba Interlake district in west-central Canada, Tim Harwill dreamed of a personal brand of countrified roots music before the on-set of adult life while at the feet of an assortment of his musical brethren. Hitting the road as a teen, lost years and countless miles of indie touring have delivered an impressive catalogue of emotionally compelling, lyrically intelligent, and musically accessible original songs. Which the Alberta-based 12-string troubadour delivers with a relentless commitment, unabashedly rooted in country music's past while embracing an electrified and powerful new musical ethos. Eschewing pyrotechnics for honesty, and fuelled by a combination of insightful lyrics, driving electrified country-and-blues based rhythms, and his unmistakable voice, Tim Harwill and his band consistently engage while delivering one of the most passionate performances in roots music today.Having released 3 critically praised and primarily acoustic full-length recordings on CD to date, his audience continues to grow as he evolves into one of the respected and enduring Canadian songwriters performing today.'All I Really Need'...this is true country…Harwill fits with the likes of Tyson and Robbins…real country fans will be in heaven…a performer staying true to the music and not selling out for the radio. – Yorkton This Week, 2008'Thru The Bottom Of A Glass'...full of acoustic roots country flavored tunes...Tim Harwill delivers a winning vocal performance. - Roots Music Report, 2005'Spinner of Tales'...an incredible, heart-felt acoustic CD...excellent first effort...should grace anyone's collection. - Northern Journey, 1998Legendarily reclusive by nature, Tim Harwill lives quietly in small-town Canada with canine traveling companion Koko when he is not on tour. With live performances evoking comparison to the greats of the past, he defines the term 'throwback', producing an authentic country sound while remaining true to his personal artistic vision in the rapidly changing musical landscape of the 21st century.
