Formed in 1984, Crash Landing was the house band for the legendary central Texas venue, CUTTERS TEXAS MUSIC HALL & WILD WEST
CANTINA.
Known throughout the state as a top cover / club band, the boys have cut loose with 13 tracks of their own original material on this new Ski Mask
records release.
Recorded at Waco, Texas' Large Mouth Recording Studio by producer David Zychek, this is 13 tracks of greasyTexas BBQ rock at its best!
The 5 piece band members are... Rick Turnpaugh - guitar, Rick Vail - guitar, Rob Turnpaugh - bass, Kirby Sodek - drums, Donald 'doc' Shuffield -
lead vocals and percussion.
Special guest appearances include...
'Uncle' John Turner - drums, A Texas blues legend, Turner; has backed guitarists Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lightning Hopkins, Alan
Haynes, and others over a long recording career dedicated to the blues. He appears on the instrumental tracks S.O.S and S.M.A.
David Zychek - guitar, Zychek is a long time central Texas rock n roll guitar hero. As a guitarist he has played in the bands... Texas, Airborne,
and Night Ranger. As a producer he has created several Texas classics, as well as producing the new Crash Landing c.d. He appears on S.O.S.
and 21st Century man.
Gerald Weber - guitar / Hammond B3, The Texas tube guru hisself! President of Kendrick Amplifiers, Gerald is also an outstanding guitar player
as well as a leading authority, author, and tube amp designer / builder. And did I mention he cooks on the B3 too? Hear him play organ on Six
strings down & organ / guitar on the instrumental track S.M.A. (tribute to Stevie Ray).
