About Me

For most of the past fifteen years I have been rocking Central Texas clubs and arenas as the lead singer/percussionist with my partners in crime CRASH LANDING - Rick Turnpaugh (guitar/vocals/band leader), Rob Turnpaugh (bass & equipment , Rick Vail (guitar/vocals) & Kirby Sodek (drums). We have opened for and jammed with many of our heroes and friends such as Double Trouble, Alan Haynes, Buddy Miles, Eric Gales, Ted Nugent, Pat Travers, Van Wilks, Omar Dykes, David Zychek, Bugs Henderson, Uncle John Turner, Ottis Coleman, Eric Raines, Ty England, Johny Barbata, Mason Rufner, etc.My Rock and Roll career started in Waco Texas, in 1976 when Ricky Matthews invited me to help form a band with Frank McCoy, Larry Doye and Mike Bixby. We called the group Tailspin. It was short-lived and morphed into a group know as Quickdraw, which played the Rock Clubs of Waco Texas until around 1980. Quickdraw members included Ricky, Frank, Duncan Porter and a procession of drummers, including Rick Maynard. In the early 1980's a band was formed in Cameron, Texas, The Shades. I was invited to join the band at their shows when my work schedule allowed. The member of The Shades were Dennis Hardwick, Ricky Matthews, Bo Cryer and Bruce Bray. In May 2007 the reunited Shades played a show to kick off their new, revitalized mission to provide Rock to yearning fans of Central Texas. One of my heroes of the 1970s & 80s, David Zychek, invited me to join his band in 1988 as percussionist and background vocals, as he was preparing to promote his new album. I left the band after a short while, deciding to complete my college education. One of my good friends, sound man/bassist Keith Kelln, introduced me to Rick & Rob Turnpaugh and Dave Sorge in the fall of 1992. I jammed with the guys and played my 1st show with them on Halloween, 1992 at the Peppermint Lounge in Temple, Texas. Soon after, drummer/radio celebrity Eric Raines joined the band, as well. Over time the band personnel evolved into the current lineup and this developed into a relationship with all the current members of Crash Landing that has transformed into more than just bandmates, but truly partners in music. We are all good friends and have the utmost respect for one another. Our self-titled cd was released in March, 2006 after many long months of preparation and even years of playing some of the songs we were finally able to record. The cd has received rave reviews and is currently being played world-wide from Iraq to Japan to Germany to England to Australia to who-knows-where else.We recorded and released our 2nd cd, "4-1/2 inches of Pleasure" in August 2008. We have several special guest stars appearing on the new opus, including renowned Austin guitarist Ottis Coleman, David Zychek (also co-producer), badass saxophonist Paul Brown wails on a couple of tunes. We are very proud of our 2nd opus. We did cd release parties in Temple and famous 70+ year old roadhouse, Nat's in Milano, TX. Time around Crash has newly designed t-shirts and baseball caps to provide a little extra merchanidizing opportunity...Get yours today!!! .profilepimp { Created using profilepimp.com - MySpace Editor - MySpace Layouts - MySpace Generators - MySpace Codes - MySpace Graphics} Profile Pimp MySpace Layouts Contact Tables MySpace Icons MySpace Comments
