Hi, This is David Zychek, thanking you for stopping by my site. I have a few songs here from my latest cd called DEAD HEART BEATING so if you have a moment check them out and let me know what you think. I've been playing in bands since I was 13 in Houston, and back then I was seeing Johnny Winter and the 13th Floor Elevators at local gigs. Billy Gibbons was in Moving Sidewalks, and a friend of mine from Spring Branch High School - Mike Knust - was in Fever Tree. Great time to be starting to play. After I wasted a year in college, I decided to try playing professionally - big mistake - but I've always been a glutton for punishment! My first good band out on my own was called TEXAS, and we played every gig we could get from Charlie Hatchett. Did shows with Krackerjack, Nitzinger, Genesee, Shepards Bush, and other Austin bands at the time. Played a gig with Trapeze at Kings Village - life changing experience - and did many a gig at the New Orleans Club and other venues along Red River. In '76 I moved to Evergreen Colorado, and joined a band called HEAD FIRST, which played lots of Beatles, Yes, Steeley Dan, Styx, and started writing songs. Some of these tunes got me hired by AIRBORNE, and the band got signed to Columbia. Our album came out in the summer of '79 and the band stayed together for about 3 years, although we could never get our second album released at the time. I also had a side project called THE GROOVE KINGS, with San Davis and Gary Pavlica. We were a cross between ZZ Top and The Cramps or something....total balls to the wall energy trio. We got to back up Bo Diddley in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. My musical journey has crossed paths with Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep, and brought me guitar/keyboard duties with NIGHTRANGER. I continue to live in Texas and produce and record at Largemouth Recording Studio, located in China Spring, Texas. Some of my most recent projects include Lonny Ayres, Kyle Hunt, Nonity, Steelloaded, Tastydactyls, KriticKill, Slick Fist, and Crash Landing - to name just a few. Most, if not all of these artists have sites here on myspace, so check them out. Most of my live appearances at this point in time are with Johnny Big, San Davis, and Ronny Griffin.....DEAD HEART BEATING. It's all about a Texas groove through hot tubes baby! If you like sweaty roadhouse rockin' with a little prog/metal thrown in - let me hear from you. I play a USA Fender Jeff Beck Strat through a mod'ed Crate Blue Voodoo 60 Watt with 4 Kendrick greenback vintage 30 12's - thanks to Ken Hensley at St. Louis Music and the guys at Kendrick Amps in Kempner, Tx.
