About Me

Adam Hopkins is a freelance bassist living in Baltimore, Maryland playing a variety of styles of music with a variety of people. He has some music degrees from some music schools and will be finishing up his final (?) music degree this coming may. He feels that more information concerning these degrees is unimportant and irrelevant. He is currently a member of Quartet Offensive , a Baltimore-based jazz/improvisational quartet consisting of John Dierker-reeds; Matt Frazao-guitar; and Nathan Ellman-Bell-drums, and is a member of DC hip-hop bands Restoring Poetry in Music and Panacea (live). He performs regularly with a number of other Baltimore and DC musicians as a freelance artist. In the past, Adam has played or performed with George Garzone, George Benson, John Clayton, Rufus Reid, Paul Bollenback, Howard Curtis, David Pope, John D'Earth, Bob Butta, and the list is (hopefully) constantly expanding. He has studied bass with a number of great teachers including Jack Budrow, Rodney Whitaker, and Sam Cross. He currently studies with Michael Formanek and Jeff Weisner.Adam maintains a small private studio of double bass and electric bass students in addition to being a Professor of Double Bass at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. He is available for performance, lessons, master classes, combo workshops, group performances, etc.
