ORPHEUS - Pandora's Pot

About Me

Orpheus was originally a duo (vocals and guitar) whose distinctive trait was a kind of approach based on extemporaneousness of interpretations, proposing a repertoire with a mainly acoustic sound. After years spent playing in clubs and festivals, the impulse came to write their own songs, influenced by jazz and rock-prog musical cultures, which can be heard in their work. From King Crimson to the late Jeff Buckley, through Joni Mitchell, the Beatles and David Sylvian (the name Orpheus was taken from the first cover song they interpreted, written by Sylvian himself, composer and leader of the band Japan), their sound developed and grew richer, creating a personal way to express oneself through music. In 2005 came the idea of enhancing Orpheus repertoire with classic elements, and experimenting with peculiar arrangements, an aim that brought the duo nearer to musicians of the Giacomo Puccini Conservatoire of La Spezia and to some music teachers of Centro Attività Musicali Koala of Massa Carrara, where the lead singer steadily teaches singing. Besides, the songs melodies are enriched by the use at times unusual and dissonant of backing vocals.Orpheus are currently recording their first album, Pandora's Pot, and are looking for a label!
