About Me

Marco Machera (bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and lyricist) was born in 1986 and started playing bass in 1998, at the age of 12. He began his musical adventure as a drummer, but he quickly decided to put down drumsticks and experience himself on a electric bass. Marco is basically a self-taught musician, although he took lessons for about two years. During this period, he began doin' his first live shows with local rock bands and started to develop an eclectic way of playing by listening to a lot of different music.
He formed the all instrumental rock-fusion group Ivory Tower in 2000, and joined the heavy metal band Heraldry as a full time member in 2002. With them, Marco toured all around Italy to support their debut album "Shadows Of Ancient Skies" (2003) and had the opportunity to play in the US, at the Classic Metal Fest held in Chicago, IL on May 2005. They opened several Italian shows to Paul Dianno (former Iron Maiden singer) and to Adrian Belew (King Crimson, Frank Zappa, The Bears, David Bowie and so on).
Marco is the bass player and lead singer for the rock band Meltin Pot, and he occasionally does sessions for various artists. As a soloist, he opened the Italian shows of Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Tony Levin, Indigo Girls, Suzanne Vega, Paul McCartney), stickists Irene Orleansky and Guillermo Cides. Marco also collaborates with various Italian webzines and magazines for musical interviews and reviews (he interviewed legendary musicians such as Mark King, Steve Lukather, Tony Levin, Steve Hogarth, Gary Husband etc). When he's not playing his bass, Marco studies Languages at University in Rome. He's an avid reader and writer. He also likes seeing live concerts and annoying musicians after the shows.
