About Me

MyGen Profile Generator
I've worked in almost every genre of music from Goth Metal and Heavy Rock to Hip-Hop and Pop. I retain a love still for the earliest genres that sparked my interest: Rhythm and Blues and Jazz. I'm never sure what hat I'm wearing on a given day leading to a slightly fusionistic approach to any given work.
I grew up surrounded by music. My Grandfather was one of the biggest influences on my decision to follow the life of a musician, he was a brilliant pianist and organist who taught others about music and lectured into his 90s until his death in April 2008. I think music was definitely in my blood, my Great Grandmother was a pit organist for the early silent cinemas. I first started to study piano and voice when I was 3 years old, and proceeded as a classical musician through Wells Cathedral school where I was taught by some amazing tutors.
I've played trombone, piano and sung with jazz orchestras; arranged and written music for stage in Paris and the UK. I've also written my own material which tends to be of a more laid back psychedelic bent: including an album called Chandelier and a second album currently in the works called Cut Crystal with a more Leonard Cohen influence.
At the moment I'm working with two bands. Abba Forever are an internationally touring live Abba group. I'm currently their Benny Andersson, I've certainly learned a respect for Abba which until this project was lacking. It's a lot more complex and interesting than I gave it credit for. The other band is Massive Electric Storm where I'm mainly singing and fronting, we play classic rock, blues and our own works to audiences across the North West of England.
I also work solo as a blues and jazz pianist/vocalist covering rat pack and also other numbers at hotel venues. Occasionally I'll pull together a group of like minded musicians for a gig. I've also played jazz at the renowned Old Duke in Bristol with Cas Caswell and blues in the same venue with Eddie Martin – check him out he's on my friend list a wicked slide guitarist, great harmonica player and soulful vocalist.
I've written music for amongst other plays: Sweet Ladies (currently being staged in a central theatre in Paris), inter-play music for a suite of Beckett productions and am currently working on a musical called Janie.
I work also as an arranger, producer and collaborator with the lovely Rachael Magowan, she's a lady with a truly magical voice again on my friend list.
In addition to this I've worked as an acting tutor for the New York Film Academy on their international courses.
I'm always happy to work with others on projects of any type or nature so if you have something interesting, get in touch! I could write so much more here, but I'll leave it at this.
