The talented and adorable Camille Mana will portray “Missy Chin†in the anticipated 2007 Miramax feature film Smart People from producer Michael London (Sideways), starring Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Thomas Haden Church. She also recently wrapped the Lionsgate teen comedy feature film College in New Orleans, starring Drake Bell, also slated for a Fall 2007 release.
Camille is best known as "Lisa" the quirky underachiever on the revamped hit UPN sitcom One on One, starring opposite Kyla Pratt, Robert Ri’chard and R&B sensation Ray J. The show was a fixture on the network for five years and recently ended with the UPN/WB merger. While waiting to find out if One on One was carrying over to the new CW, Camille, not one to rest on her laurels, put other creative skills into play. She set out to produce her first film endeavor, Equal Opportunity, a short comedic satire. It won the coveted Best Film award amongst 850 entries in NBC’s Comedy Shortcuts Festival. As a result, Camille inked a Development Deal with NBC Universal, and won pitch meetings around town. It is an Official Selection of HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival (Aspen), South by Southwest, and more.
Camille next tackles the title role in the upcoming indie film The Samurai of Strongsville, Ohio hitting festivals in winter 2007. The offbeat teen coming-of-age story meets martial arts flick, revolves about “Suki Tanâ€, a teen outsider who battles her demons in an unusual way, and meets the consequences head-to-head. The challenging role required Camille to study the Japanese sword-fighting art of Kendo.
