About Me

MyGen Profile Generator
Welcome to the ace Cakey Face myspace place!
Leeds band Cakey Face were formed in the early months of 2006 by three random girls united by a love of left-field pop, 80s teen movies and 50s kitsch; Debbie Face (vocals), Hazel Cakes (guitar) and Cakey A (drums). They are now on their second bass player called Rick. Rick II joined in January 2007 and had his first live outing with the band at the Sound People Weekender on 16th February..
A diverse and at times bizarre range of influences mean that Cakey Face can never be a normal band. A punky and slightly surreal take on pop music, Cakey Face combine sugar, spice and bile in three-minute flashes of eccentricity.
Songs about wolverine nightmares and domestic science won over the crowd at their first live outing five months after forming and the band continue to gig regularly. You should probably go to see them at the earliest opportunity.
Cakey Face song Wolfman is on the Sound People United City compilation with a host of other lovely Leeds treats OUT NOW. Check out the Sound People myspace page - they're in our in our top friends - for more details. Then go to your nearest record emporium and buy it, it's ace.
Review from gig 9/10/06 @ Dollparts [LMS]
"Then we get to Cakey Face. A band I have been waiting to see for quite some time now. Led by singer Debbie Face, who I may add is a great little P J Harvey in the making, Cakey Face shows us that not all new girly bands have to sound crap and demure. They were only formed early this year, and I'm led to believe that Alice the drummer (aka Cakey A) has not even been playing that long, but she pulls off the cutest little drum beats I've heard in a long time. Coupled together with Hazel Cakes (Guitar) and The Chef (Bass) these guys have a promising future. Their lyrics are punchy and the toppest tune of the night 'Pop Suicide' is carefully crafted and shows each member of the band in their own little light. If you want striding bass, lounge punk and off beats then Cakey Face are your clear winners, they can only go from strength to strength - bravo!"
