The Star Fighter Pilot is Martin Bryant from Manchester, England. Fusing electro, acid house and electronic noise with a witty singer songwriter ethic, he makes music that bridges the gap between accessible pop and mad electronica.Influenced by people as diverse as Squarepusher, Chris T-T, early Beck, Ladytron and the Super Furry Animals, he makes music using computers, samples, his voice and a slightly disturbed imagination. In March 2005 The Star Fighter Pilot's first EP, Feeding & Chaining, was released through acclaimed netlabel Hippocamp.net and was followed up in 2006 by the Alkaline Maisonette EP. Both have been critically acclaimed and well received by his ever-growing fanbase.Playing a steady stream of gigs The Star Fighter Pilot has built up a strong live reputation. He sometimes appears onstage with choreographed dancers and was recently filmed live for the Real Fresh TV video podcast. In addition to his own music he recently contributed to an unofficial Beach Boys remix project, 'Hippocamp Ruins Pet Sounds'.2007 began with 'Another Penny' featuring on the Popular Culture zine compilation 'We're Stupid, But We're Happpy'. He supported Bis during their comeback tour at Easter and a download-only release 'The Fall / Broken Equipment' was released in June.In September a 7" split EP alongside The Colt 45s on Leaving Home Records was released featuring 'Another Penny' and 'Drunk With You' by The Star Fighter Pilot. Visit the Music page to get your hands on it! 2008 begins with The Star Fighter Pilot working on songs for a new EP which is due around April. Ironic he may be now, iconic is something we could be using to describe The Star Fighter Pilot as being in years to come.. - Drowned In Sound 8/10 review
The confident acumen of Bryant suggests an oh-so-very-nearly finished product; though with that said, you suspect he could put out an album right now that would better its rivals. Last year, HV thought it right to bestow top marks upon The Star Fighter Pilot, and with this latest offering, nothing has changed. - High Voltage 5/5 review
This is pure 21st Century living played out on cold, harsh digital circuitry, yet the resulting sounds provide campfire songs for urban revolutionaries. Atmospheric, insurrectionist observations are rife in The Star Fighter Pilots rhetoric.... Its refreshing that the Star Fighter Pilot is happy to mix his stratospheric synthetic orchestrations with such down to earth perspectives - yet this by no means overshadows the mighty pulse, of his cunningly computer crafted soundtracks".. - Manchestermusic.co.uk 5/5 Review
What a cracking name... Human League style synths and deadpanning and bleeps to carry the cool and cynical kind of lyrics that suit late nights, droll self deprecation and mild downers and 'Sunday' is the one that really captures that whole kind of Sheffield bloke with daft haircut and two suburban molls in a very, very good way. The Star Fighter Pilot, nice. - Unpeeled
