DEREK HESS DEREK HESS DEREK HESS!!! No, not in a stalker-esque way. I am starting to only wear STRHESS clothing & collect his art. I want to, someday, get a piece tattooed on me. He is amazing, passionate, and what the whole cycle of life is all about. It's all in his art (click the banner below to check it all out!)Of the below images, 4-8 are borrowed from

Human Rights (womens', gay, & civil rights), women's studies & feminism. The environment. Politics. Books, music, smart shows, movies, cats, animals, animal rescue shows, live music, writing, lip gloss, candles, getting lost in a book that pulls me in from page 1, roller derby, hiking, girls in glasses, redheads, pin-up girls, burlesque, Amber Benson, Katherine Moennig, Jeanine Garofalo, Margaret Cho, Whoopi Goldberg, BTVS, caramel, vanilla candles, bubblebath or anything, really. Tattoos, piercings, music, discovering new music, independent artists, poetry, paintings & other art. Mini Coopers, skateboarding, glitter, bangles & bracelets, new jeans, long conversations, the moon, cloudy days & lotsa rain, the scent of autumn, being snowed-in around the holidays, taking a vacation far from home w/my guy, my ratty old Chucks, Rosie The Riveter, underwear (who doesn't luv underwear?), archeology, pyramids, tombs, mummies, geology & how the earth works in her own mysterious way, any tv show on archeology & geology, etc., coffee & any foo-foo variations on coffee drinks, anything with sugar...lotsa sugar, drag shows, pride parades, my iPod, true gut-wrenching laughter at the most ridiculous of things, making up words/phrases & having them catch on, trading stories w/AND meeting new people, talking w/old friends, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and lastly (and most importantly) my cats & my family.
Intelligent, witty, outspoken people who are proud of who they are & the views they hold AND are true to themselves (and others, of course).

I'd luv to meet some of the people I have long respected & admired. I'm also looking to get back in touch w/old friends & aquaintances
AND staying in touch w/long distance friends:)
JUST LEAVE THIS PAGE IF:
* Are looking to hook up or "be kickin' it." I'm in a relationship [translate: married] that I've been in for many years & don't plan on fucking around w/someone I met on MySpace (I'm NOT desperate, naive or gullible)! I am NOT looking for secret charades or swingin' times, so fuck off.
* Are a Bush supporter/Republican/Pro-Lifer/Evangelical. IF you believe that Feminism is trite. Feel the environment & its inhabitants don't need to be protected. Believe the US is always right & screw the rest of the world. Refuse to see that crime & poverty in this country are socio, economical, and political problems OUT of the hands of those held down! If you're anti-gay/think gays should not marry or have the same rights. IF you believe any of the above, then leave now.
I am here to make real connections...to rediscover old friends & acquaintances, to meet new people with whom I have a commonality of interests, beliefs, etc. I'm also here to discover & meet independent musicians, authors, & artists.

created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Bikini Kill
You're Bikini Kill! Sadly, you're filled to the brim with the riot grrrl clighe' of smeared lipstick up your arm, and man hating. You do your best to help the people around you, and the enviorment. But be careful, don't become self righteous.

I am indebted to my mothers & sisters (and some fathers & brothers!) before me who made it possible for me to live as I do today: A free woman, allowed to vote, access to education, access to birth control, opportunity in the workplace, Equality (for the most part -- hey, we've come a loooong way since even 1970!)
THOSE are my heroes**
MY HEROES ARE FRIENDS ... old & new ... here & GONE ...
Characters like Ayn Rand's Howard Roarke. Those who follow their own path, no matter what the consequence. Because with confidence comes power -- not maniacal zeal, but a self-empowerment that can stand with the biggest egos or can stand alone -- it matters not, for they feed their own soul...and sometimes are lucky enough to find others in life who can share in that with them.
"I am that solitude. I am that power. I am the ego. I want what they do not like. I am what they hate." - Me, 3/21/07
