Influences:Bill and John Hassall from The LibertinesNew E.P. The Plan available from’www.indiestore.com/flick’Cavern review by Mike Sheppard :Three-piece rockers Flick grabbed my interest and wouldn’t stop riding it till their last beat faded; with an exhilarating and joyfully surprising combination of upbeat indie-based compositions leaning towards the Ordinary Boys, with some of the finest metal drumming I’ve heard in the depths of the cavern. Brilliantly weird is the best way to describe a stereotypically mellow style of music that repeatedly suffered double-bass drum sodomy! There was a light, crisp edge to the guitar sounds employed by Bill Jefferson, set off nicely by the bouncing lines of bassist Ben Tainsh. The two string-Flickers (god for a world void of obvious puns!) provided vocals that soared in well crafted and beautifully executed harmonies over the aggressive drumming of James Whitlock.
The trio’s thanks from the crowd grew as the set continued, and it was beautiful to see a band earning the respect of their audience in such a steady honest way. Looking back on the gig Jefferson was humble and gracious to the crowd with good cause. Id be stoked with a reception like that, and on the flipside, I was stoked to have the desire to move shot through my veins at the hands of Flick...For review on whole night please visit: http://www.myspace.com/mix_master_mike85
