Flick

Flick; will soon be CROWNS

About Me

Flick’s reputable début in London saw them playing to a large enthusiastic crowd at the Camden Rock Café, drawing people in off the street in competition with the Electric Prom gigs at the Roundhouse and the BarFly. A few weeks earlier they had been hammering out their high energy, but somewhat left-field set, at an OddBall event, featuring eccentric cabaret acts at Plymouth University. the band take on influences as diverse as The Jam, The Libertines and The Beach Boys (doing a cover of ‘I get around’ for XFM) On the back of the Camden gig the band were booked to play the Soho Review Bar (formally Raymond Review Bar) on the 24th February. As well as playing in the SW, Flick have played other notable venues such as; The Pleasure Unit, Leonards EC1, the Camden Barfly, Winchester Art College and even as far as the Winston, in the Amsterdam red light district.!!!!!As Flick will be playing at Leonards ec1 on Saturday 16th June, we have decided to offer a Happy Hour deal on drinks from 6pm to 8pm to that evening – it will be £2.00 for selected bottled lagers, 2 for 1 ..ed spirits along with further drink promotions throughout the evening. Also, as we are licensed to 2.00am on the 16th, we will also be hosting a chilled out DJ set from 11.30pm when the bands have finished so you can continue your night here!!!!!

Influences:Bill and John Hassall from The LibertinesNew E.P. The Plan available from’www.indiestore.com/flick’Cavern review by Mike Sheppard :Three-piece rockers Flick grabbed my interest and wouldn’t stop riding it till their last beat faded; with an exhilarating and joyfully surprising combination of upbeat indie-based compositions leaning towards the Ordinary Boys, with some of the finest metal drumming I’ve heard in the depths of the cavern. Brilliantly weird is the best way to describe a stereotypically mellow style of music that repeatedly suffered double-bass drum sodomy! There was a light, crisp edge to the guitar sounds employed by Bill Jefferson, set off nicely by the bouncing lines of bassist Ben Tainsh. The two string-Flickers (god for a world void of obvious puns!) provided vocals that soared in well crafted and beautifully executed harmonies over the aggressive drumming of James Whitlock. The trio’s thanks from the crowd grew as the set continued, and it was beautiful to see a band earning the respect of their audience in such a steady honest way. Looking back on the gig Jefferson was humble and gracious to the crowd with good cause. Id be stoked with a reception like that, and on the flipside, I was stoked to have the desire to move shot through my veins at the hands of Flick...For review on whole night please visit: http://www.myspace.com/mix_master_mike85
