The Toretz supported The Blockheads 10th March as part of Exeter's Vibraphonic Festival.
Here is what The Blockheads had to say "We loved your show. You guys are without doubt the most suitable band we have been matched with over the last 5 years... We should find a way of doing it again.

Smiles are the order of the day in the Wildcat Tent on my first visit to it all day, why? Well Toretz are raisin the roof with their theme tune Carry On and ska flavoured jazz, drum and bass. Yup hard to pigeon hole but hugely entertaining to watch

Here is the review from when The Toretz supported Asian Dub Foundation from Kuhlmuisk
Only one act tonight came close to scaling a similar broad eclectic landscape as ADF. Exeter Septet The Toretz stormed the auditorium, spitting out urban poetry, disco-ska, 70s porno-funk homages, carnivalesque jazz, fish-themed hip-hop and other weird and wonderful musical scraps their imaginations could muster. Vocalist Tor's semi-drunken cockney swagger kept the bodies in the room airborne while the musicianship springing from genre-hopping jams of the band was suitably dazzling.
The Toretz first released, a 5-track EP 2 Rude 4 Radio in June 2004, which gave a good cross-section of their live set, featuring the unusual brass/wind section of clarinet, saxophone, trombone and (occasionally) flute & included Clacton, Garden Party, SXTXTPST:), A-Z of Sexual Deviance (or A-Z of Animals for the younger Audiences) and a bonus track Applelist
The Toretz second CD "Your Cleanliness Disgust Me" was mostly recorded live in two days at ABH records. It captures the lively and humorous Toretz sound. Amidst the humour, the Toretz inject some serious political satire. Renowned cartoonist Polyp POLYP or www.uhc-collective.org.uk , as featured in the New Internationalist, has given the band kind permission to the use his artwork 'Spotless' for the promotional cover (see above). Polyp has described the Toretz as 'refreshingly political, funny and rude'

These Exeter based ska/jazz/D'n'B/every-genre-you-can-think-of wackos crank up the brassy hooks, chuck out the kitsch guitar runs, and blurt scatological comedy lyrics in this grotesquely kooky 3-minute marathon.Taking its cues from the likes of Ian Dury and yesteryear TV themes (think The Pink Panther meets The Jetsons), and mixing it up with beat poetry and rock, "Your Cleanliness Disgusts Me" is a polemically-charged romp 'n' rant against the clinical capitalist cynicism of the modern era. With a thrashing DIY punk chorus, sax and clarinet duals to snag your ears on, and lines that will keep you chuckling, this is a colourful and rare local treat. Best sampled live - at a venue near you.
The Toretz formed at the beginning of 2004 and have been building an underground following across the South West, by playing at as many parties, festivals and venues as they can! The Toretz performed at The Thames Festival Night Carnival in 2004 as a walk around performance piece with the SENSE 3D portable shell PA, and went down a storm. They are applying to the arts council to develop this concept further for next years carnival session.
The Toretz had a storming festival at Endorse-it in dorset 05 with the Desmond Decker, pronghorn, zion train cracked actors, toupe, fat drunk and stupid to name a few and were booked again for 2006 and now 2007 see photos at endorseitindorset/2005/galleries
The Toretz have their own band facilitator to organise meetings, promotion and gigs. The Toretz are currently seeking independent management, promotion & distribution deals.
