Diablos existed between winter ‘03 & ‘07, early material was raw & lyrics were nasty; detailing drug abuse, terrorism, loneliness, angst & frustration. Most of this stuff was laid down for a self titled EP in 2004. By 2005 FX pedals & better quality gear was assembled as the bands enthusiasm grew. Gigging became more constant with pubs, picnics, boat gigs & anywhere else that would have us, our sets became tight as we started to enjoy the music, playing shows with bands from the local scene. A new batch of songs were recorded in ‘05 & compiled with the original E.P to make the 10 track Diablos L.P.
Our original drummer parted ways with the band sometime around late ‘06 & Dom from the Demonic Upchucks became the new man behind the kit, making the band sound tighter & better then ever before. We then wrote a whole load of new songs that we started gigging with & which we intended to record as a twelve track D.I.Y L.P called ‘Between Death & Defiance’ The band broke up some time during recording, due to a conflict of opinions & interest, musical differences etc.
We later looked back at the 7 recorded tracks for the intended L.P & mixed them during early ‘08 with the intention of releasing them as the ‘Between Death & Defiance E.P’ The C.D is now available with lyrics & new artwork. Other releases may be available, like a mixture of live recordings & acoustic jams, also perhaps a compilation of live video footage that we never got round to sorting. There’s no rush. A reform is unlikely, but the band members still keep in contact & are busy with there own new bands, as well as the ones they were in before.
