About Me

05/09/07 - CAPTAIN FACE "CLOSE TO SPLITTING" OVER NEW "GAY" SONG
Captain Face were reportedly close to officially splitting last night after a row escalated over allegations that singer Euan 'James Blunt' Wemyss had "gayed up" the band's forthcoming single in an attempt to appeal to the elusive Dandy market.
Sucking on a Silk Cut light, wearing a neon pink t-shirt at least two sizes too small for him, Lee 'Axl' Morrison said, "it's a fukin disgrace, ken fit a mean?he's a'ways makin us do this kinda poofy stuff. i dinna like it...ooh, 'at's a bonnie blouse yer wearing, is 'at Primark?"
Former soccer casual and Face drummer Joe 'special' Brew was unable for comment as he was in his room burning photos of the band's estranged singer. The single has been slated for an October release. 24/05/07 - WOWZA!!! HOT OFF THE PRESS (WHAT'S A PRESS ANYWAY? ISN'T IT ALL DONE DIGITALLY THESE DAYS? OH WELL...)
The new Captain Face single 'Small Joy' has been slated for a 1 July release on Fat Hippy Records. Speaking from his gin-soaked bed, Face guitar-basher Lee Morrison (no relation to Jim, despite what he tells you) said: "Yeah, it sounds like, amazing! I mean, it's the record that Zappa would have wanted to make, if he wasn't busy making, like, better music, y'know? Hand me that bottle of Pernod won't you lover..." BIOG - WHO ARE THIS CAPTAIN FACE? TELL ME NOW!
Hailing from the mythical land of Kinmundy, Aberdeenshire, Captain Face play a brand of music that is best described as...good. The five inmates are periodically released from the Kinmundy institution in order to enrich the lives of the Aberdeen public via their groin-thrustingly outstanding live performances. Individuals lucky enough to have witnessed Captain Face in concert have reported experiencing overwhelming feelings of euphoria coupled with the insatiable urge to shake their boot-ays.This phenomenon - dubbed the 'Face Effect' by scientific experts - has now been unleashed on the rest of the country with the release of debut E.P. 'BOOM' (Fat Hippy Records, July 2006) and singles 'Awesome! No Way!'(March 2007, Fat Hippy) and 'Small Joy' (June 2007,fat Hippy) BOOM, Awesome! No Way! and Small Joy can be obtained in exchange for scandelously small monies from One Up in Aberdeen or via a new modern technology called "the internet" by accessing Fat Hippy Records To date The Face have rampaged through Scotland and England with label mates and bezzie buddies Hot Mangu and hope to continue doing so until someone pays us enough to stopBUY 'SMALL JOY' HEREBUY 'AWESOME! Sounds Like: The Skinny - Whistlebinkies Review (29/03/07)
"It's late by the time Captain Face take to the stage at Binkies. So late, in fact, that some of the audience finish the last of their pints and head to the exits. However, just as Chaucer once wrote, "patience is a high virtue," and those who choose to remain are well rewarded and treated for their loyalty to the cause. All played with unabashed effervescence, Captain Face's patented mixture of funky indie verses, wah-wah solos and boisterous, riff-heavy chorus goes down as well as the late night pints. Played with more energy than would seem possible at such an hour, it's hard to believe that this is the same band on record. It's heavier, harder, flashier, more confident and all tied together with a youthful poppiness and more than an occasional flash of rambunctiousness. A just reward for the fidelity of the enduring. A kick up the backside for the restless." The List (28/03/07)
"…Back on the right side of the border the barmy Captain Face step forward with three disparate and utterly nutty numbers on 'Awesome! No Way!'" Daily Record
"Captain Face's latest single is a tidy slice of early Stones rock, all shot through with a fresh healthy dose of ballsy attitude." stv.tv/music
"Psychedelic guitars mixed with a funk-inspired rhythm section back-up Euan Wemyss' shouty vocal histrionics and seemingly random lyrics to create the novelty cacophony that is Awesome! No Way! Captain Face are perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but they certainly aren't afraid to be individual, and for that I salute them." Lickmag.com (02/05/07)
"The high octane, high pitched [Awesome! No Way!], borrowing though it does from everyone from Queens of the Stone Age to the B52’s…certainly makes an impression, a particularly catchy bass hook and shout-a-long vocals wedging their way into the subconscious after the first listen."
