Huynh Phuong Dong (b.1925) was employed for over 25 years as a solider and combat artist for the Vietnamese army during their wars of resistance against French and American forces. Mr. Dong produced thousands of sketches, drawings, and paintings of the wars in Vietnam. He recently gave a talk at the Peobody Essex Museum in Salem MA (see below). His visit coincides with the release of a book about this work: Huynh Phuong Dong – Visions of War and Peace.
