You don't want to know about me....know about the night!...
Behind The Mic is a boundary pushing initiative to showcase THE BEST emerging and established talent from music, live literature and comedy. (Many of our up-and-coming artists go on to secure major publishing and/or record deals.) We do this in intimate, candlelit and quirky venues where fun and friendliness triumphs over pretence. We strive to make our space your home where artists and audience alike feel a part of a developing community.
Here's a little taste of us...(clicky!)
The chosen venues to host such an event are The Glass Bar (or as we like to affectionately refer to it - The Tardis),
The Adelaide (also home to the Hampstead Comedy Club) and the utterly gorgeous
Ballroom at The Cavendish Arms. Come June you'll also find us at the legendary
Soho Revue Bar!
For those outside of London or who find it difficult to attend our live shows, from July onwards we'll be broadcasting live on the web from
The Suite, part of the legendary Utopia Studios in Primrose Hill and live on Resonance FM!

"An always eclectic, surprising and entertaining evening of music, comedy and spoken word that serves to remind us how much great talent there is out there waiting to be discovered." Neil McCormick, Daily Telegraph, Patron of Behind The Mic The Adelaide After a stint downstairs at The Washington in Belsize Park, our ever expanding audience prompted us to venture to The Adelaide. A mere stones throw from our old home, The Adelaide, with it's high ceilings, art deco influences, candlelit caberet seating and friendly and enthusiastic staff became our new NW3 home every second Thursday of the month as of May 2007. The night is hosted by the ever mesmerising Tony Dallas
and
supported by SongLink International - the leading creative resource for music publishers, A&R, songwriters, producers, artists and managers - anyone in the business of pitching or seeking songs.
Glass Bar The Glass Bar is the least likely looking bar in the city, opposite Euston Station. It's rather more like a large square war monument with engravings about its walls. Walk inside and it opens up into a tardis full of sofa's, candle lit tables, ethnic throws, bookshelves and faery lights. It's quite the hidden gem and attracts a wealth of creative and successful female city dwellers. Our nights at the Glass Bar run the first Friday of every month and are hosted by musician turned comedian, Rosie Wilby.
Please remember though, the Glass Bar is a Private Members Club for Ladies only (open to female non-members on the evening). Suspected guys in drag will be frisked at the door.
The Ballroom at The Cavendish Arms
Situated in Stockwell, South London, The Ballroom at The Cavendish Arms it set to be one of the best new venues for live music in the area. Bought and lovingly styled by Shirley-Jane, herself a successful musician, the Ballroom is glamorous and intimate. Perfect for us.
Soho Revue Bar
The Soho Revue Bar unites the finest in Soho tradition with London's most cutting-edge entertainment. Formerly the legendary Raymond Revue Bar, the venue now offers a dizzying array of music, performance, dance, caberet and clubbing over two floors. Embracing both the history of the club and the passion of modern-day Soho, this iconic venue has been stylishly modernized and restored without losing any of its original charm and glamour.

Behind The Mic ethos:
In a world where consumer choice is expanding to the point of creating indifference, as people are overwhelmed by the ever expanding quagmire of specialist radio and TV stations beamed directly in to their homes, losing their patience as they flick through 500 channels of digital information, we aim to counter the potentially anaesthetising effects of such a dilemma. We hand-pick the most exciting and eclectic range of artists from London and beyond to showcase their varied modes of creative expression in an intimate, relaxing and atmospheric setting. Varied artists who when brought together and contrasted with one another reflect the many different facets that exist within every one of us, and in doing so celebrate our diversity as individuals and as a community, whether local and social or global and cultural. The most inspiring harmonies afterall are often the most extraordinary. MG
