How we think and believe can create the world we want or don't want

About Me

Before I get started on attempting to describe About Me - this is mostly the view of me through words - not who I am today. I believe that as we move through life - we continue to change. Some even learn and grow from their experiences. Now to get started, okay?

Let me see - hmmm - well I've been around the block a few times. My late mother comes from Japan and my late father is from the Ozarks. That makes me half-Japanese, 1/4 white, and 1/4 Native American (Choctaw & Cherokee). During my early years I was able to grow up around the world because of my career Army father. Let me see, during my childhood I lived in Kansas, Louisiana, Okinawa, Missouri, Arkansas, Germany, California, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Georgia, and Alabama.
Martial Arts Stuff I've studied the martial arts since I was five years old (Shorin Ryu Karate in Okinawa for three years) and have earned blackbelts in many different arts - from Shotokan to Senshi Ryu Jujitsu. I am currently studying Aiki Jujitsu and will earn my BB in that art as well. My instructor's certificates in JKDC and FK (Level 2 Instructor) was completed on April 4, 2007, the Kali Silat and Offensive fighting Tactics (OFT) (Full Instructor) was completed on April 24, 2007, and Lopez JKD (Full Instructor) completed on May 17, 2007. Also recently received a 1st Dan Blackbelt in Total Protection System (another combative system) and am studying Hand-to-hand combat from former Marine - Shihan Gary Alexander (10th Dan Isshinryu Karate) as well as Mixed Martial Arts from Sensei/Sifu Mike Omerbegovich.
Currently training towards the Level 1 Instructor Certification in IDS Krav Maga Security as well as reaching 1st Dan Blackbelt in Shaolin Lung/Long Liung Kenpo Karate (03-01-2008). I'm also a new student of Shihan George Kirby (10th Dan, Budoshin Ju-jitsu) and recently earned my green belt (6th kyu) and of Eric and Kevin Lamkin in American Kenpo/Elite Fighters System. Soon I'll be training with the Charles Nelson School of Self-Defense currently run by Robert Spiegel (6th Dan and senior student).
"Use no way as a way, No limitation as a limitation."
--Bruce Lee
As I stated earlier my growing up years was all about moving from one place to another. We finally settled in California during my last couple of years of high school. During those early years I also competed in many different sports - from Pop Warner football and Little League baseball. From there I continued competiting in many different sports in Jr. High and High School. After high school, I went into the Marines and from there into the Los Angeles Police Department (I think a lot of military guys did back then). I did compete in sports after high school and I am looking to continue it again.
I then left the LAPD in 1981 to start my own business. I also worked as a security specialist and bodyguard. I taught self-defense courses to women and soon after opened an import/export company (mostly because it made a lot more money than martial arts (at the time). I learned how to write good ad copy and sales letters while promoting a mail order product. This led me to start an ad agency. I had a lot of failures along the way. Heck, that's how we learn, isn't it?
After many successful years (and some down ones) - I left the ad business to go back to what I love doing - and that was to help others. I love to speak in public and to motivate others. I wanted to know more. I went more into studying how people became successful in terms of their mindset. This led me to study (in depth) hypnosis, psychology (various areas), NLP, and other mind power technologies as well as Eastern and Western philosophies. Psychology was a natural progression (or regression in some people's minds) of philosophy. I am certified as a hypnotherapist, NLP Trainer, and Time Line Therapist."Sensations, once experienced, modify the nervous organization, so that copies of them arise again in the mind after the original outward stimulus is gone."
--William James Fitness is a big part of what I do. It used to be bodybuilding, but I wanted more functional strength than the big muscles I used to have. What I learned through my training at the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), combat martial arts, the Marines, and in various sports, is that for overall health - functional strength training is the best way to go. That's especially true for older people like me. That's led me to adopt training regimes that I never tried before, such as kettlebell training as well as weighted clubs. I've begun to add ring and rope routines for upper body strength and uphill running for lower body strength and stamina.
Additionally, I am working towards my Ph.D. in clinical psychology as well as doing executive and peak performance coaching, hypnotherapy, and motivational speaking/training. My training also includes coach training through The Schools of Coachville at ( http://www.coachville.com ) and Hypnosis Motivation Institute ( http://www.hypnosis.edu ). I love what I do and hope that those that read this will find in themselves to do what they truly love, okay? My hypnosis website is at www.hypnomindpower.com . In December 2007 I completed a course in EEG Neurofeedback through the EEG Institute. This will enable me to better help my clients in peak performance through brain wave training.
