Hard and loud

About Me

HumdinGer started up in Bodø, Norway, in 1998 under the name Forhøster which was soon changed to Humdinger - an American word for something or someone of high quality. The original members were: Jon Hveding - guitar & lead vocals, Tommen Hveding - guitar & backing vocals, Remi Langmo - keyboards, and Nigel Mowles - bass guitar.
Their debut was at the Gimle youth club, Spring 1999 and by the next concert at Huset in Myklebostad Lars Nicolaysen had joined on the drums. Englishman Nigel Mowles returned to Enland and was replaced on bass by Jens Hasselberg. They appeared at "Romjulsrock" between Christmas and the New Year 2000 at the renowned Bodø music club Sinus. They released a home produced CD "Humdinger" in 2000 and the track Mushroom Men (nothing to do with drugs) appeared on the Fuckin' North Pole Punk Rock Collection vol.1.
Remi Langmo left before their next performance at the 2nd Bodø Hardcore Festival at Sinus October 2000 and Jens Hasselberg was replaced on bass by Johnny Larssen.
They appeared at Rognan Roots Festival and Christmastime saw them back at Sinus. Reporter Rune Slyngstad wrote the headline: "Humdinger were toughest. We got rock in many colours. Toughest and most fun were the old punk lads in Humdinger" "The lads showed that they know their stuff and that they can serve great songs of one minute and fifty seconds. It was really good fun."
Jon Hveding left the band to concentrate on the reggae band Manna, and Steven Balmbra replaced him on vocals in May 2004 and the present line-up of Lars Tommen Johnny & Steven was established. HumdinGer played the eighth Bodø HardCore Festival at Gimle in November 2005 then Easter rock at Sinus on 8.april 2006 when Jon Hveding guested as second guitarest on several songs. The local newspaper wrote "The band played hard and loud, inconceivably hard and loud". The next gig was in August at Steven's Garage and then they played at Sinus at a warm-up concert for Bodø's Parken festival. Humdinger released their 7 track 10" vinyl picture disc "What you hear is what you get" during Bodø Hardcore festival 10 in November. It comes with a bonus CD and can be ordered through Go-to-gate records. On january 26th HumdinGer had their release party at Sinus. They played two sets of their own music and a handful of covers. DJ Ole Ivar played classic rock & punk music to get everyone in the right mood for the concert.
