Born to proud parents in 1985, Thomax is a lifetime inhabitant ofBodø, a windy city in the coastal regions of northern Norway. Allignorance towards this settlement's location, and even its very existenceis to be expected. As it nestles its mere 46.000 villagers, not evenranked in the top 5 of Norway's biggest cities - and that in a lilliputnation such as this - you can rest assured that you are not alone in thedarkness.
Stranded in nowhere, torn ragged by the seemingly neverending winds ofNorth, Thomax is often found slouched over his turntable, dim-lighted byflickering candles, kept a safe distance away from his precious curtainsto prevent fire and loss of said turntable. There he blows dust off of oldrecords he has scavenged from nearby shipwrecks (and the local second-handstore) analyzing every second of every song to find golden moments offorgotten melodies, frozen in time, that he can then steal and pass off ashis own ingenius work.
Thomax turned to this controversially burdened style of music in 1998, heavily inspired by the productions of DJ Premier and the godfather of all that was Norwegian hip hop before the new millennium, Tommy Tee. The method of beatmaking came highly recommended by several people as a way to aquire groupies without having to learn how to play the guitar, but unfortunately the same people forgot to mention the inexplicable pain of cratedigging through genres such as country and Swedish danceband on the prowl for the perfect sample.
A listing of Thomax's discography would be pretty much a big empty page inthe bio, unless you count online compilations of internet remixes. And wedon't. No.
COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS:
- I do not rap. Honestly, I don't understand how someone canlisten to three tunes in a row with Vinnie Paz, Masta Ace and Looptroop, then e-mail me and tell me they love my lyrics. It's not like I don'tagree that the vocals are flaming hot (that's why I picked thoseacapellas), but a different voice on every track and the words "thomaxremix"...come on now, bells should be ringing at this point.
- I can't handle a paintbrush for the life of me. All pictures, drawings, paintings and figurines (actual fact) are solely the craftsmanship of the hands attached to the vastly artistic mind of my younger brother, Karl Tore.
- I will not tell you what I've sampled on any track, even if youask me ever so kindly. It's a digging thing, and should not even be talkedabout in public.
- I am not interested in buying your beats, OR anybody elses.Seriously. What would even prompt you to ask?
- My profile does not hunger for your wallpaper-sized bannerswith gold grillz and oiled up booty. I hate your spam and hope your catdies.
- I don't hate cats, I wub em.
