Psykisk tortur

Psykisk Tortur was founded in 1984 in Bodø, Norway, situated just north of the arctic circle. The two founders of the duo was Lars Nicolaysen and Tore Nilsen (later Stemland). They had a metal percussion orientation and they where inspired by; the ingenious dilettantes in Germany fronted by Einstürzende Neubauten; futurists; John Cale and Boyd Rice/NON.They did four concerts in the local area during 84 and 85 and was recepted very negative, except for a very few faitful fans. These concerts was later used as a foundation for the releases made by the duo after they decided to take a break in the fall of 1985, being expelled from every scene in the area simply because of the music. It would take more than 20 years before they re-entered the stage again...Meanwhile the two did some industrial solo releases as Nervøse Lidelser and NXP.In the summer of 2006 the first ever avantgarde festival in north of Norway, Nødutgang Festivalen took place in Bodø. To that occation the band reformed again, this time as a trio, expanded with Ronny Wærnes. This trio did a series of gigs during the rest of the year, and the feedback was enormous compared to that from over 20 years ago. Recordings from the Nødutgang Festival is now released on Go To Gate Records (SOLD OUT!), a label launched to release music within avantgarde, noise, punk and whatever is outside the mainstream..
