The winter of 2003 two old friends met in The City of Trondheim. Old tricks were made new, and in no time, there was no doubt about the next step. A couple of phone calls were made, and after intense persuasion, two friends had become four. Jimbo Jones as a band was born. A garage with no forms of insulation, with the quicksilver at fifteen below, was not the ideal practice space, but at least inspired the band to find a warmer and more soundproof location.
After two months of intensive practice, the band was offered to tour with Norwegian hardcore superstars "The Spectacle". This included 5 gigs at the beginning of The Spectacles european tour of 2003. The band recorded a two song promo for the occation. This was meant to be given out to every Harry, Dick and Tom with a interest. The tour was a success and the band waited no longer than a month before hitting the road again, this time headed north. Six gigs were played between Tromsø and Trondheim. With such a sudden introduction to the rock'n'roll lifestyle and life on the road, the band sat back and let the impressions seep in. The band all agreed that there was to be more touring!
Troy McClure Records was established as a result of Jimbo Jones' uncontrollable urge to get out there as fast as possible. No time waiting for a record-deal. With their own label they had full creative and economic control, regardless of any interests of the corporate music business. A minimalistic studio and an unlimited amount of studio time, coffee and cigarettes were to become the foundations of which the debut Jimbo ep was built upon. January 2005 the record was released, and the machine named JJ was rollin'. At the releaseparty everyone who showed up got a free copy of the ep. More touring was in the works, and JJ has now visited Finland, Sweden, and the baltic states.
