This is normally the bit where people name-drop (usually referring to themselves in the third person) about who they've played with, or display hugely impressive quotes from influential magazines etc. I haven't got that, because I haven't played a gig in 5 years, and as for marketing, you're looking at it!!!
In a world where marketing, radio airplay, and advertising largely persuades/dictates to us what to buy and listen to, this is a place where you can make a simple choice informed by your own musical taste, free of outside influence.
(a) I like this guy's music
(b) I'd rather listen to someone I've heard of before
If you like it, add me and let me know what you think, and if you feel passionate enough about it, tell a friend or two. If not, I'll maybe cry myself to sleep in a lonely drunken stupor for one night, but then get over you, and move on.
So far, I've released one album called "The Sweetheart Stone & Other Tales Of Woe", which has received rave reviews from the people who've downloaded it!! So if you are one of those people who romanticises the idea of a struggling, totally independent, self-sufficient artist, download the album and help this particular struggling, totally independent, self-sufficient artist out with his food, and electricity bills. Your kind download donation might even provide him with enough money for additional luxuries, which may help or impair his creative process, and cement the notion in your mind of an Irish vagabond and bon-viveur (sorry, I momentarily slipped into using the third person press release style there).
As of now, I'm living alone (apart from Chasey the dog, and a family of mice), in a little cottage by the Irish Sea, which is a fantastic place for writing, but not for socialising, which means more writing. Here I am currently writing and recording my second album. I must admit, I am really feeling the pressure to equal the commercial success, and critical acclaim of the first one (excuse the subtly veiled sarcasm).
As well as all of the above, I am practising hard at re-learning all of my old songs, because I have decided to actually get out and play a few gigs. Look out for dates and venues near you, or more likely, venues near me. If you would like to keep up with news more regularly, subscribe to my blog, because I actually use it.
That's about all you need to know, if you have any questions, contact my agent in LA, or my manager in London (joke).

"Amongst quite a large sea of singer-songwriters here in Ireland, many mediocre, it is refreshing to listen to one which stands apart. For me, Dave Caughey from Bangor in Northern Ireland is one such singer-songwriter." The Frequency - Ireland
"In an era when so much music is an example of “style over substanceâ€, Irish singer-songwriter Dave Caughey has gained favourable comparisons with classic singer-songwriters such as Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Neil Young, harking back to a time when the song was king.Dave is a man who isn’t afraid to bare his soul lyrically. His recent self financed debut album, “The Sweetheart Stone, & Other Tales Of Woeâ€, addresses such weighty issues as coping with the suicide of a loved one, the futility of war, and surviving separation from a lover. Two of his songs have received particular attention, and critical acclaim. “Oak Creek Angels†has been chosen as a fundraising song for a charity which financially supports children orphaned by the AIDS/HIV epidemic in Africa, while “Rosebud†has been featured on Neil Young’s “Living With War†website." - www.bandpromote.com
