Yeah, How Nice.

About Me

Fun-loving and wonderfully weird guy working for an internet service provider/cellular telephone company here on Guam, "Where America's Day Begins."Having spent my entire adult life traveling the world, I am a bit of a wanderer and I love to see new places and meet new people. I especially enjoy the South Pacific area, absolutely love and adore the Philippines. Spent a lot of time in Europe, mostly Germany and France, as well as many years living in Korea and Japan.Although I am in my mid 40's I still feel young at heart, love to laugh and be around people with strange (some would say bizarre) senses of humor. Originally from a small town in Western Colorado, but now consider myself a citizen of the world. I'm a born again beach bum who loves the ocean and everything about it.Spent 15 years in the US Army traveling around the world, with an additional 11 years as a Army Civilian before making the jump to the private sector. I have a daughter who is proudly serving in the United States Air Force in Texas, working in a hospital, and I worship the ground she walks on. I'm currently waiting for my fiancee's immigration paperwork to be completed so she can join me here from the Philippines.

My Interests

Hockey, good books and movies. I'm an avid reader, and music is my passion. I enjoy good satire and sarcasm, people with wicked senses of humor, non politically correct people who tend to march to the beat of a different drummer and don't give a damn about being politically correct.

I'd like to meet:

Looking to make some new friends, interested in all kinds of people from diverse backgrounds and interests, people who have spent a lot of time in Asia, basically anyone and everyone welcome. You must have a sense of humor and love to laugh, and must be open to new ideas without trying to shove your own down my throat. I like interacting with people who enjoy their lives and are open about sharing moments from their lives the same way that I am, warts and all.

Music:

The Who (greatest rock band in history), Clash, Ramones, Dixie Chicks, Steve Earle, Warren Zevon, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Bruce Springsteen, REM, Styx, Kansas, Heart, Side A Band, Shania Twain, Pat Benetar, Stevie Nicks, Molly Hatchet, Garth Brooks, Chris Ledoux, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, James Taylor, Joe Jackson, Sheryl Crow, Bob Seger, ACDC, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Cream, Rush, Triumph, Steve Morse, Elvis Costello, Trisha Yearwood. Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, almost anything is tolerable.

Movies:

Casablanca, Key Largo, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, The Godfather (all 3), The Departed, House of Flying Daggars, Shut Up and Sing, The Oceans movies, all Kevin Smith movies, Gettysburg, all Humphrey Bogart movies, everything Quentin Tarantino was ever involved with, all Marx Brothers movies (especially Night at the Opera and Duck Soup), The Kids Are Alright, all Star Wars movies. The Shawshank Redemption, Daredevil, Walk the Line, Gone With the Wind, James Bond movies, all Austin Powers movies, Tombstone, True Grit, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Rio Bravo, The Longest Day, Bridge on the River Kwai, Stalag 17, Rocky I-III, La Bamba, The Buddy Holly Story. The Last King of Scotland, Supersize Me, Happy Gilmore, all Harry Potter movies, anything with Jet Li in it, and many many more.

Television:

Anthony Bourdain No Reservations, CSI (all 3), Simpsons, 30 Rock, The West Wing, South Park and House. Also a huge hockey fan, especially Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers.

Books:

Anything ever written by Hunter S. Thompson, Memoirs of a Geisha, everything in the Brotherhood of War and The Corps series by W.E.B. Griffin, everything in the Harry Potter series of books, all Tom Clancy books, Amy Tan. I read a lot of biographies, especially those on the American Civil War and WWII leaders, but basically will read about anyone who has had a remotely interesting life. Some science fiction, theology (Maz Lucado is my favorite), Rick Reilly, Edgar Allen Poe, Mark Twain, Mario Puzo, Charles Dickens.

Heroes:

My daughter because I love her more than my own life and because of the person that she is. My fiancee for all the adversity she has faced up to now in her life and the fact that an incredibly beautiful woman like her could love someone like me in spite of the fact that I am butt-ugly, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, who showed us all that we all have the capability to do heroic things like he did in July 1863. Pete Townshend and Hunter S. Thompson, who wrote things that touched my soul. My dad, who is the epitome of honor and the best example I have ever known of what it means to be a man.
