ABOUT Demus
Demus started out as a breaks producer and DJ in New Zealand in 2004 after discovering the nu-school breaks sound coming out of the UK. His first tune ‘Shockorror’ was pressed and released as part of the Heineken Music thirst competition. Soon after he started Djing and was given a radio show on Auckland’s Fleet FM.. Database Records then picked up his third effort ‘Release’ and featured it as the opening track to their labels second compilation. ‘Release’ also had music a video made for it receiving national airplay time on C4 Music channel. During this Demus had a weekly residency ‘Kingsland Electro’ with fellow DJ Randomplay. With so many local DJs making hot tunes Demus and Randomplay started their own label. They released the breaks and electro compilation ‘Kingsland Electro’ featuring tracks from Timmy Schumaker and Baitercell, ASpark, Agent Alvin, Greg Churchill, Antiform, with Demus himself co-producing 3 of the tracks. Demus then moved to UK to start a new brand ‘SpinellaDrive’ 2006 saw Demus winning 2 DJ competitions, the Contiki DJ competition and Network Essentials DJ competition. Winning landed him bookings in Greece to play support for CJ Macintosh at Ministry of Sound, headlining the full moon party at the legendary Club Paradise in Mykinos, and playing NYC to play at Club Love. Still busy on production, Demus signed 3 tracks to Empathy Records with ‘Superstitious’ receiving support from DJ Auxiliary, Double Negative, North Shore Pony Club, and DJ Randomplay. His breaks bootleg of ‘Put your hands up for Detroit’ got huge support from Stanton Warriors, Funknslocuts, and Kid Kenobi. Demus spends his time producing new tracks in his London studio and Djing at Londons The Cross, Plan B, Inigo Bar, A10, The Blag Club, Babalou, Stachmos and Clockwork. He also spends his time tutoring Ableton Live music production at http://futurelondondj.googlepages.com and currently produces the pod casts for the Origami weekly night at the White House (Ministry of Sound). Demus has played alongside Plump Djs, Adam Freeland, Alex Metric, Minuit and CJ Macintosh. Tune into his bi-monthly radio show SpinellaBreaks on ibreaks.co.uk, Weds nights 10:00pm GMT
