My Interests

I started mixing 6 years ago when i was 17. I was into Hardcore Techno and Hard trance in a big way and just had to get myself some decks! I spent 2 years in my bedroom before Olzee & Dubzilla gave me my 1st opportunity to play out. It was in the most red neck pub in the world... The coach house (Redruth). The locals loved our dirty techno and our makeshift mascott... A manikin head mounted on the end of a baseball bat..... His name was timmy. In year 3 I was introduced the the delights of Drum & Bass, it was a slow process but by the end of the year it relpaced my techno addiction completly. On new years eve 04-05 I played at the Flyin Time/Transmission party in Newquay. For me this was a big opportunity and probaly the set that got me noticed as an up and coming Dj. I was booked in to the REHAB 'new recruits' slot in March where i went on to win the competition and become the new REHAB resident in place of Markie B. (Big up Section 8 & Devinyl for all your support) Since then I have played at loads of diferent D&B partys supporting the likes of- Ez Rollers, Rob Smith (simth & mighty) Pendulum, Mampi Swift, Aphrodite, J Majik, Friction, Swan-E, TC, Moving Fusion, Andy C, Brockie, Muffler, Brian G, The Narni Shakers, Bad Company, Adam F, Fresh, Baron, Chase & Status, Grooverider, Drumsound and Simon Bassline Smith. In the early part of '06 a tune played on the radio made love to my earholes... It was called 'Fasten your seatbelt' by Pendulum & The Freestylers. This tune inspired me to start buying some breaks as well as D&B. Hi-Fly & Kianyte gave me some plugs at their ILL NATURE nights and I was instantly hooked on the Breakbeat vibe. After joining the Bassfunk camp thanks to Bossa and James D'ley I was given a new direction and mission in Dj'ing. In 2007 i started a little club called 'The Freerange Party Society'. I wanted to unite all the local DJ's that were doing it for me at the time, 1 resident for each genre (electro, techbreaks, basslinebreaks, dubstep, hip hop, Jumpup & Liquid D&B). The idea worked really well! Freerange was never meant to be a new big club night, just an exclusive little click that set us aside from everyone else, i think thats why things have evolved so quickly. Though only playing collectively for a short time we have been playing and working together for years. Between us all we have our fingers in a lot of pies (big promotions, club nights, freepartys, magazines, festivals, record shops, radio stations, record labels) we're all great friends too. We are now selling Freerange to an international market. We have taken up residencies on 2 diferent radio stations www.nsbradio.co.uk (the worlds biggest breaks network) and www.southwestunderground.net and we are getting plugged by huge promotional companys all over the country. These radio stations are the premier underground radio stations of the Southwest and of the entire world. Freerange is hopefully set to explode!!

Skateboarding is my true poison, been at it on and off for over 10 years now, still get the same buzz as the day i first picked one up. Dont think I'll ever give it up. My 2nd is Snowboarding. Theres something special about hooning down the side of a mountin at mach 10 with all your freinds. Ive ridden DH & Freeride mountin bikes for the last 5 years which has taken me all over the world riding at many Resorts in France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Canada & The USA. As I work in a bike shop its opened a lot of opportunitys for me to travel to a lot of cool places and meet a lot of cool people. I've wakeboarded for the last 3 summers, I'm not that great but it's fuckin good fun!! My other intrests include: Fishing (sea&course) Spear fishing (Harpoons rock my world), Riding my Quad, Partying with friends, being stupid with large fireworks, frisbee and playing EA Skate 'a lot' (best game ever). Unfortunatly because my music is giong soo well, most of the above have had to take a bit of a back seat lately. Between having a full time job, a full time girl, playin anywhere up to 4 nights a week and running a house theres rarely time for my hobbies anymore :( (I wouldn't change it for anything tho!!!;) I love being with my freinds, got some real tight pards!!! Your friends are the people that get you through your life, NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE VALUE OF A TRUE FREIND. I guess being a Dj you meet a lot of fake people, Its hard when everyone knows you before you know them. I've never been the greatest at 'just clickin' with people. I'd rather be the one that just sits back and gets on with my shit than running round chasing attention (trying to live up to the hype!!!) Hopefully my ego will never get the better of me cos trying to be someone your not is a serious downward spiral (dont forget your roots!) On a cheesy note.... I'm head over heals in love with a girl called Emma Whale. She rocks!! Anyone who knows her will tell you the same as me. She's intelegent, ambitious and motivated. She's loyal, trustworthy and thoughtfull. She likes to party, chill and explore and shes pretty good at all of em! She's a bit of a looker too! I'm a lucky guy to have her in my life..... An honour (Thats the cheesyest thing i've ever written by the way, feel free to puke at any time) Life definatly does not get too much better than it is for me now. IN A NUTSHELL I'm a 20 something guy who likes to PARTY, MIX, RIDE, SHOOT, EAT, SLEEP, LEARN AND LIVE!!! No drama, no bullshit just a straight up dude.FREEZE YOUR KNEEZE Dj Olly G --
