Jen's Cats

We Rule The House

About Me

Hello! Meow! We are Jen's cats.
Cats have been in her life for a very, very, very long time.
In fact, so much time has passed since she first started caring for cats, that those of us remaining are now quite old.
We spend most of our time sleeping!
This space is dedicated to Jen's cats - past and present.
Some of us are still here, some of us have gone.
But none of us will ever leave Jen's heart.
SIR SYDENEY I am the oldest of all the cats. Jen got me in 1993 when I was a kitten. I am a male cat. I like to sleep and be cuddled. I meow a lot. It's a very distinct meow, kind of squeaky. Once upon a time before I was fixed, I fathered a litter. I also fell into a vat of tar once, but that's another story! I was named after Syd Barrett from Pink Floyd.
VENUS I am the second oldest of all the cats. Jen got me in 1994. I am a female cat. I prefer to stick close to the humans and avoid the other cats. I tend to be a bit of a princess and demand the best of everything. I always stay out of trouble and am very, very clean. I like to sleep on the bed at night. I came with this name.
S.E.T.I. I am the shyest of all the cats. I'm female. Jen got me in 1994. I was emotionally neglected by my former owners and it took me a long time to learn to love. Eventually I began to trust my new home and now I am very happy. I like playing with cat toys and I purr a lot. I shed a lot of hair, but I'm so beautiful I'm worth it. I'll try and eat just about anything I can get my nose on. I was named after the S.E.T.I. program of N.A.S.A. Monroe and I are related as we share the same mother - but are not from the same litter.
MONROE I am the tiniest of all the cats. Jen got me in 1996 when I was a little kitten. I am female and the biggest troublemaker of the group! I like to investigate things and explore every surface. I usually only get into things I am not supposed to. I also like to agitate the other cats. But since I never grew to be very large in size, everyone thinks I'm cute. So I get away with murder. I was named after Marilyn Monroe.
SIMON I am the most vocal of all the cats. Jen got me in 2001 when I was about 5 years old. I am a male cat who enjoys keeping the whole house awake at night with my howling. It sounds like I'm in heat, but I'm not. I just want attention. I have a beautiful silky Siamese fur that everyone loves. I came with the name Simon. Some little girl had named me.
BIZZY I am the friendliest of all the cats. Jen got me in 2000. She found me outside during a snowy blizzard! I was just a kitten! Since someone was obviously not taking care of me, she kept me. I am a male cat. I am unusual because I am a polydactyl. A polydactyl means I have extra toes on each paw. I like kids and am very playful. I also like water and try to get into the bath or shower whenever I can. It's a long story how I ended up with my name.
VISA & ASKER We also live with 2 kittens named Visa and Asker.
They're so special, they have their own space now.
Visit their space here !MEMORIALS Here are some of the former family members that have lived here with Jen. We miss them so much: FRANCES BEAN Frances Bean was Jen's baby. He was the most special cat - her favorite cat of all the cats - ever. He was a white cat with blue eyes. He was very affectionate and was the sweetest companion. He made everyone smile and people who knew him still talk about him. He was the best cat in the entire history of time. He died of illness when he was 10 years old in 2003. The day he died was one of the saddest days in Jen's whole life. He was named after Kurt and Courtney's baby because he arrived at the same time Bean did.
Frances is the white cat in the above photo.
On the couch with him are Seti, Sir Sydeney, Venus and Monroe.
ANDY Andy was one Jen's favorite cats. He came to her as a stray and took him in. He was in her life for about 3 years. He was a very, very old male cat with wild black and white fur that stuck out funny. She named him after Andy Warhol because of it. He was the kind of cat who was very loving and liked being cuddled. Jen felt a special bond with him. He died of an illness this past winter and Jen misses him so much. Here is a picture of Andy: STARSKY Starsky was a stray cat that was brought in 'temporarily'. He was in heat so every day he would go out for a few hours before returning. One day he got hit by a car while he was outside and it was so sad. All of Jen's other cats have always been indoor pets and so she was very sad when that happened. His name, obviously, does not need explanation. He was named after the infamous duo. His tale is particularly sad as Jen was contemplating making him a permanent member of the house. He just wanted outside soooo badly. This is the saddest story of all the kitties. One good thing is that he had love before he died, at least. NEIGHBORHOOD STRAYS
CINNAMON Cinnamon is a stray cat that is too wild to be a pet, yet constantly around. The strange thing about Cinnamon is Jen can pet her, feed her, but not catch her. She is very dirty and in the winter her fur quadruples in thickness. She got the name Cinnamon from the distinct colorings in her fur.
EDIE Edie is a stray cat who again, roams the neighbourhood but will not be caught. She has been coming around since the old days when Andy used to be a stray. They showed up together all the time, so Jen dubbed her Edie as in Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick. EUGENE Eugene is another stray worthy of mention only because he clawed the hell out of Jen's arm when she tried to pick him up. Her screaming prompted her to name him after the Pink Floyd song "Careful With That Axe Eugene". Despite the fact that Eugene clawed her, Jen continued to pet her and eventually calmed her down. What's a little blood for a lot of cat love? The reason these stray cats are considered part of the brood is they are fed and loved by Jen. Thus they are "extended family members". Also requiring mention are the other cats Jen has cared for in her lifetime: ROGER
A beautiful kitten fathered by Sir Sydeney, named after Roger Waters from Pink Floyd and given to a family. GILMOUR
A beautiful female cat named after Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. She was the mother of Sir Sydeney's litter. COOPER
Named after Alice Cooper (by an ex). Cooper was one of S.E.T.I.'s relatives as they share the same mother, but not the same litter. EDDIE
Named after Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. Eddie is also related to S.E.T.I., Cooper and Monroe, although again, not from the same litter.: : : : : : : : :We also have other non-feline siblings. Please visit our rodent brother and sisters at Rodent Paradise!
We are not allowed to play with any of them, but that's OK. And finally, visit our beloved Jen the one who cares for us all.
