On the Radio Every Monday 8.05 til 10pm BBC Radio Scotland and 12 Midnight til 2am Every Wednesday night / Thursday morning BBC Radio 1 - 'BBC Introducing in Scotland with Vic Galloway' - check out the cutting edge of new music from Scotland and beyond! After buying a pile of Adam & The Ants records as a wee boy, I was fully initiated into punk rock and new wave after witnessing my first live concert by The Damned in 1985, and as the obsession grew so did the record collection.
On leaving school, I chose to live my ambitions and immerse myself in rock'n'roll and all the trimmings! I set out to form a band, get into recording and performing music and also managed to busk my way around Europe for 6 months! I currently write, perform and produce music with prog-pop pioneers Deaf Mutes ( debut LP out now - www.deafmutes.com ) and I'm getting a new punk band together.
I've worked in the other side of the music industry - writing for fanzines, working as a venue lighting director in Edinburgh, helping to set up and develop independent labels, and working as press and radio promoter. My journey into Radio was unforeseen, so when prompted to make a tape for this new regional BBC Radio 1 show I obliged and to my surprise, got the job... That was over 8 years ago - boo ya! I'm also lucky enough to be in the position of doing another new-music show on BBC Radio Scotland. This happens every Monday and has set out to inspire all those who switch their dial to the show at 8pm every week. Check www.bbc.co.uk/vicgalloway
If that wasn't enough, I also like to get out and DJ in other clubs and student unions across the UK and abroad when asked! If you want me to play in your place, please contact my agent, Andy Varley at Insanity Artists www.insanitygroup.com
To top it off, as a freelance journalist, I do occasional work for broadsheet papers, magazines and websites. Phew, enough already!I live in Edinburgh , like getting tattooed, eat spicy food and want World peace...
