Spike Lee . Lizzie West has performed the National Anthem in Madison Square Garden and toured as an opener for artists such as
Chris Isaak as well as headlined several of her own national tours. . In 2007 her song, Rope Me in and Smoke Me and Thank You was featured on Showtime’s, The L Word and her song
19 Miles to Baghdad has been featured 6 times on
Democracy Now!
In 2004, Lizzie did something few artists ever have the courage to do. With four records left on a five record deal with a major record label, after experiencing what she could only describe as censorship, she left the label to record on her own. During this time Lizzie went through a personal tragedy with the loss of both of her parents to cancer. These life changing experiences served to transform her as an artist and led to the independent release of the deeply personal and politically charged “
I Pledge Allegiance to Myself †(
Appleseed Records, appleseedrec.com ).
The new album, made in collaboration with Baba Buffalo, was greeted by stellar reviews.
“West writes disarming melodies, wraps her songs in beautiful, spare arrangements, and sings them with a beguiling voice.â€
-Paul E. Comeau
